Capcom’s Christian Svensson has made several interesting comments regarding whether or not the Playstation Network releases of Resident Evil 4 HD and Code Veronica X HD will have DRM.
That shady company probably will have DRM.
no doubt, copy-protected save games.. whose bright idea was to use that this gen?
WOW. I thought always online DRM was bad. This is even worse.
How is it worse you can still share and use it on a separate account and system after 24hrs? DRM on pc you can't even share or play offline but you can do both on the ps3. This article is nothing more than a flamebait article. The xbox can't even share the game but the knock is on Sony. Can we have a better decisions on what gets approved? Edit How come the disagree? Nothing I said is untrue.
Its worse because if you try to start the game on another console you have to wait 24 hours before you can play the game on the console you already played the game on.
never had the 24 hr lockout with any other games except for Final Fight double impact. capcom is full of shit. nothing but a bunch of worthless pricks.
Warhawk does that, no big deal for me.
Warhawk no longer does this. An update last year changed it. You can now share it with a friend and play online together.
Ahh I wanted to buy RE4 and split the cost with a friend. How come I can game share other games then Capcom?
You can still share. This article has their facts wrong. You can download the game the same day as your friend but you can't use it for 24hrs after that you are fine. It's just a 24 hr lock for use. Final Fight is the only Capcom game so far that uses the 24hr period and has to be played online. It still can be played on multiple accounts. My advice would be to let him beat it first then go for it. People are making a bigger deal then is needed. At least on the Ps3 you can share but you can't on the xbox. I hope that helps you.
so basically they encourage gamesharing which doesn't make them a dime? I call BS
That's a load of crap. Why is it that this DRM only applies to Capcom games? I haven't experienced or heard about any problems with other PSN games. AND copy-protected saves are not mandatory, nor are they instituted by Sony. The developer decides if they want to lock the saves or not.
Sony gives the locking copy protected ability in the PS3 OS. Both Sony and developer who choose to lock game saves are responsible. That's the most used excuse nowadays on 1st party and 3rd party. If 1st party choose to create something for 3rd party to create problem, and when the 3rd party choose to use it, both parties are responsible because if the 1st party didn't create it, then the 3rd party couldn't use it to create problem. I know plenty of people will not agree with my opinion but that is how I see it.
Gamers who own single PS3 console generally don't care. Regular PS3 DRM allowing 5 PS3 consoles to "share" the download game is a little too loose to some publishers like Capcom. That is why they have 2nd layer of DRM to limit one console per day. But if you do own multiple PS3 consoles in the same house, you don't have the freedom to play the same game on any console in the same day. This is similar to copy protected save games stored on Cloud Storage. You can still restricted to play on one console and have to wait for a day if you want to continue the same game progress on another console.
