N4G Review: ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection

Cat writes, "Ten years, two games: Team Ico knows how to leave you wanting more. While it has been fun to replay God of War and Sly Cooper, few series are more deserving of a re-release in HD than ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Maybe you were never able to snag one of the relatively rare copies of ICO, maybe your PS2 struggled with framerate during SotC, whether this is your first experience with ICO and SotC or you're returning to well for more awesome you won't be disappointed. It's hard to believe the games were made a generation ago, they're just so stinking good - and good-looking."

I never knew this site had its own reviews o_O

Cat2476d ago (Edited 2476d ago )

Don't blame yourself, we typically focus on previews and interviews! But for the ICO/SotC Collection...can't just let that go by!

Now read it!

A website with fans that are obsessed with numbers yet N4G reviews dont score with a number. I cant help but laugh a little.

good review, i own both collectors versions of ico and sotc (the original ones with art cards, lucky i know but the card cases now look like they're made of loo roll) so im not sure if its worth me picking up the hd release.

Cat2476d ago

@TrophyWhore I know :) I just don't think it's about numbers, and this is one area I get to wield ultimate power!!

@gamesmaster Reversible boxart, remastered in HD, Trophies, just to name a few ;)

Trophywhore2476d ago

Yeah its probably betterwithout the numbers since those are up for interpretation. Most people think anything that isnt a 9 or higher is a bad score. I like your way of saying "its worth a buy". The buy, rent, or pass scale is much easier to understand.

sikbeta2476d ago

Really need to do this more often, you know, a site that makes its own reviews besides the submited ones...

gamesmaster2476d ago (Edited 2476d ago )

@trophy i agree. also, i think scores are lazy, if a review is written well and structured properly, i should be able to discern whether a game is worth a buy and its acclaim without looking at the number.

i guess for some people its about convenience but it just seems like these numbers are being used by people to brand games they've read nothing about.

i think its healthy if people find a reviewer they can relate to (tastewise) and make informed decisions based on their preferred critics response

@cat didn't take much to twist my arm, i'll add this to the collection.

If it's a review, then it shouldn't be in the blogs section. I mean, that's the standard by which you make US use this site by.

It's a review made by a staff member, so that's how it's considered an N4G review.
