Will Tokyo Game Show Outline Handheld Gaming's Future?

VGChartz: In recent years, Tokyo Game Show has largely been considered to be on a down-slide in terms of relevance. The most obvious reason for this is a general lack of interest in Japanese development by many gamers. Most Game of the Year material now comes from Western developers. It doesn't help that Europe, North America, and other Asian regions are becoming even larger portions of the market. But Tokyo Game Show may see some exciting news this year around, specifically in that of handhelds

i just want to see more on the vita personally.

Same here. Worldwide launch date announcement please! I also want them to make clear differences between what you can do on the 3G version over the wi-fi, as at the moment I am very confused with the Near functionality.

well i think persona 4 has a feature where you can communicate with other players before encountering death. Don't know personally whether that's a 3g feature only or what. http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

But i am telling you vita is set to do a lot of things in the portable space, i hear there's an additional 18 games for it that are yet to be announced.

I really dont care about the 3DS it just isnt worth it to me. However i would love to see a ton of new titles for the Vita which probably will happen because the handheld will receive heavy 1st party, 3rd party and indie support. Now this is how you sell a handheld buy offering the consumers incredible tech at a great price plus a great line up.

Cant wait for the Vita to land in Spain.

yea 3DS isnt worth it
i hope they r gonna announce kingdom hearts for the vita

I had the 3DS when it was still 250 and it just felt mediocre, everything from the design to the graphics and the games.

It was like another iteration of the DS line, i ended selling it. But i will say if there's a game or games on it exclusively that interests me then ill reconsider buying it once more.

I like Mario like the next gamer, but i would like more than just a remake or port. Something fresh and not Nintendo made for once.

MasterCornholio2662d ago (Edited 2662d ago )

Well if you want fresh games that are not made by Nintendo you should have never bought a 3DS in the first place. Because in the end the number one reason why people buy Nintendo handhelds is to play Nintendo games on the go. If your more interested in games made by 3rd party or Indie devs than the Vita is a much better choice. Because so far they announced a ton of games and new IPs from those sorts of devs.

This is all just an opinion. What amazes me is how negative people are towards the 3DS.

It may be worth it some years from now when it has better games and many of them at a cheaper price. But right now, no way.

bullshit article3 on every level with no facts
"Tokyo Game Show has largely been considered to be on a down-slide in terms of relevance. "

False

"The most obvious reason for this is a general lack of interest in Japanese development by many gamers."

False opinion

"Most Game of the Year material now comes from Western developers."

You mean like last year when mario galaxy 2 won most of the awards? And is the highest rated game of the gen when you take all review scores? ( metacritic doesnt, gamerankigns does) Yeah its been forever.

"It doesn't help that Europe, North America, and other Asian regions are becoming even larger portions of the market."

Spending is down game wise in all those regions

Thats all I needed to know that the article is bullshit

As long as Apple doesn't show up saying their icrap is a handheld gaming device then I will be happy with all the handheld gaming news I get. I played Vita at E3, it was awesome! Can't wait to buy my own.

Hopefully we get an official release date on the system and most of the games.
