Square's Deus Ex Human Revolution has sold very well if recently released chart data is anything to go by but how much will it need to break even.
That's great, I'm glad it performed well.
not bad, i plan on getting this on ps3 very soon
It may see some good numbers second week as well. Every time I check Amazon Canada, it's sold out.
This game is seriously one of the best ive played EVER. When i say that I mean i absolutely have no problem saying its up there with halflife 2 on my number one games list. And a side note if anyone has read the e-book titled "the sleepwalking world" hidden behind a wall in some sewer in the game you will be like WHAT? did they seriously put that in the game? this ebook outlines the illuminati and the bilderberg group and the corruption of FEMA and the United nations. and also states in BOLD LETTERS that "THIS IS NOT FICTION THIS IS FACT!!!" even though this is a fictional story, you could really tell there was someone thinking behind that. I heart this game so much customization and choices while maintaining smooth continuity, it is unbelievable. Oh and if on the off chance mone of the eidos employess comes strolling through here reading feedback, i just want to let them know, As soon as the end credits rolled i wanted to thank each and every one of you developers, you absoulutely KILLED IT this game has the game of the decade written all over it. Thank you
Yes, I'm glad also especially considering there was no hype surrounding it or any real form of advertising. Great game and I hope Eidos make another.
I saw ads on tv for it.
XBox 360 owners buying a game with heavy RPG elements -_- guess that puts those rumors of 360 gamers only playing FPS to rest. "Most of the sales came from the Xbox 360 version with some 348K units, whereas the PS3 version saw 228K units with PC coming in at 80K." The witchier 2 should sell good on the 360
It's an FPS with RPG elements, so no it doesn't put those rumors to rest at all.
No way the PC version is that low. The PC version hit a concurrent peak of 60k players playing it. That would mean that 75% of people who bought the game were playing it at the same exact time.
^ I believe those numbers are only retail? Steam's numbers are usually a mystery... and I know a lot of people (including myself) that pre-ordered the PC version from GMG for ~30$.
ya its not counting the couple 100k people that bought it on steam then you also have d2d, impulse, and greenmangaming
it was the best seller on steam for preorders for at least 2 weeks. i'm sure those numbers are much higher. wonder why steam doesn't release the numbers though? i'm sure they have a 100% accurate counter, too.
360 always has higher sales with these western type of games. about 1/3 of PS3 sales are in the East, so the istall base in the west is much higer. Look and any popular multiplat and you would see why 360 almost always have higher sales with Westerncentrict games (Madden, DeusX, Skyrim, COD, BField ...). These will all do better on 360, unless the developer insults the base.
@smallpappy We get it u hate Playstation. STFU already.
Thats great news if true, I love this series and this game is great. Also, they would have sold even more if you add in all the digital sales on PC, probably a good amount.
Very glad it's doing well. Just finished me first playthrough, and already wanting to go again! I've got it on PC, but the controls are so well mapped to the 360 controller and it's not a twitch shooter that I'm using a controller with it. For anyone wondering about a typical play time, my Steam profile listed it as about 26 hours for my first play through (easy difficulty....I know, I know, I like to play through without dying the first time in most of my games) doing most of the side missions. There are lots of different ways to approach each mission however. It was often when I'd cleared an area out that I'd find hidden vents, security terminals and more that would have given me a sneakier or more strategic option. Exploration is definitely rewarded!
and was super excited its my most disappointed game of the year. I could careless about graphics or anything else but when you are playing aggressive all the AI has to do is shoot you 2 times and than another 20 seconds of load time. in this game either the AI sucks or they have perfect vision sometimes you can walk right by them and they won't react and sometimes you are sneaking and they will see you with their perfect shooting vision BOSS BATTLES ARE A CHORE AND THE WORST BOSS BATTLES IN ANY GAME IN 2011. THEY ARE FRUSTRATING AND AFTER THE 1ST YOU YOU WILL WISH THERE ARE NO OTHER BOSS BATTLES ITS STILL A 7.5/10 FOR ME I DID HAVE SOME FUN BUT FOR A GAME THAT WAS IN DEVELOPMENT FOR SUCH A LONG TIME THESE THINGS SHOULD HAVE BEEN SORTED OUT
I can't say I had any of the problems you did. Maybe you're just not a very good gamer, lacking some of the skill needed to play the game well, and also the augment that shows you their fields of view. I agree about the bosses, but they don't spoil the game that much. And you also don't need to use caps to try and get your point across either.
Hopefully this gives them motivation to take less than eight years to put the next one out.
it was an amazing game, just rolling a second playthrough now to get the trophies i missed
Same, I'm on Give me Deus Ex mode, the 2nd boss glitched and never moved, so I shot her repeatedly with a revolver till she died. I WIN.
That's what happens when your augmentations get a virus!
I rented it(didn't finish it tho). First game im gonna buy when I have the money. Great game. Was a bit worried about the Auto kills replacing Melee combat but it ain't really a big problem, it just holds it from being better than the first
The auto kills are what ruined the game for me. Not only the "auto kill" but the cut to black before and after really takes away from the game.
I respect your opinion, but completely disagree.
I agree, and I also didn't really care for the fact that when snapping out of cover there was no animation, and you were just instantly staring at a wall. It's a decent game, but things like that can take me out of it as well.
It deserves every sale. I'm having a blast with the game... I also said this before but i'm abusing the hack glitch which makes the game even better to play.
Good job! It was a great game.
Msxbox-world writing non-flamebait articles?!
since you said that in a few hours they will write "Deus Ex sells poorly on PS3"
Well worth the purchase in my eyes... such a great game!
great news, it more than deserves it. i really hope it sells enough to be profitable.
That's some good sales for such a niche game. I will buy this sometime.
Human Revolution has possibly leap-frogged Portal 2 as my personal GOTY. It's been quite a long time since I've dropped a game in and felt so good about it. The soundtrack absolutely drenches it in atmosphere and they give you all the super-soldiering freedom you could ask for. Kudos Ubisoft, Montreal.
It's Eidos Montreal.
Thanks for the correction bro. @badz, Square Enix distributed, but didn't develop.
Really? That's brilliant! I hope it sells really well, because the game really deserves a sequel, something that ties up the story of Human Revolution with Deus Ex... *drools about a story involving an older Jensen meeting Paul Denton in Hong Kong or something, culminating in the Statue of Liberty being bombed*
*****Looks at Bioware***** See, you CAN have a game with deep RPG elements and STILL sell well. Congrats to Eidos Montreal for not falling into the "Streamline everything" trend that many developers are falling into.
What the hell are you talking about? Mass Effect 2 sold over 2 million copies on the first week - how are you going to compare that with 600k. Yeah those are good numbers but for developers to break even this gen they have to at-least sell 1mill.
Who cares what ME2, GTAIV, or MW2 sold on their first weeks. Those games are "mainstream" games aimed at casual players. DE:HR while can also be liked by a casual gamer is mainly a game geared specifically to a specific type of player and yet it still sold 600K first week which is not bad numbers. By Christmas, DE:HR could be a 2 million unit selling game or at least close.
What the hell are you talking about? Oh... I see... sales still equal quality in your world, therefore a rational conversation is impossible with you. DE > ME and it's not even close.
I like Mass Effect 2 as the next guy but sales ain't exactly indicative on how good a game really is. I mean look at Final Fantasy XIII it sold 6M but probably half the people who played it hates it. Sales is just a weak argument my friend. Don't rely on it.
You do have to keep in mind though that these numbers only cover the first five days, and don't take into account the many digital sales the game had had (it's been a top seller on Steam for weeks). The full week one tally will likely be much closer to Mass Effect 2's figures than you'd expect.
Mass effect 2 shipped 2 million in 2 weeks it sold closer to 1.4 million.
"shipped 2 million copies"
Well, they did streamline some things compared to the first Deus Ex, but they didn't do it as drastically as Bioware did with Mass Effect 2.
This title has been getting good reviews so i might as well check it out on the PS3.
I think this game will have long legs. Many will probably pick it up after the holiday rush as well, considering the coming months are stacked.
not that great, they needed 1 mil,and in these days 2 mil at least for the developers and publishers to make some good profit, now comes the months full of games, and Deus Ex will be forgotten, well i hope they surpass 2 mil
not but but considering the amount of time that went in to making this game it will probably have to sell much more in order to break even. I hope the earn enough to warrant a sequel DE:HR is one of the more unique games this generation and I desperately want a revival of the Deus ex franchise
will it break even is a good question to ask. No amount of units pushed matters if it doesnt
Just finished it tonight :( What a phenomenal game!
and we cant know how many copies was sold in Steam, because Valve never tell their numbers
Probably double or triple because steam had the best preorder bonus.
The game it's great but there is a aspect of it I don't like, let me explain. If you play the game in a stealthy way you get to rack up a lot of xp cause every single thing you do from kills to sneaking unnoticed and finding hidden paths gives you xp but if you wanna play all rambo you get way less xp and less praxis points too so in a way it's better to remain unnoticed and sneak than shoot and kill everything in your way.there it's not incentive to make me play any other way than sneaking and remaining unnoticed.
I like to get noticed hide then break a neck or three and shoot only in a pinch.
I didn't do much sneaking at all I pretty much killed everybody. There are benefits to that too, like I got to raid everyone's pockets, and search through all computers and desk drawers without having to worry about being spotted. I just don't have the patience for sneaking around, waiting for people to turn round before moving a few steps closer. I just pop one in their head with a silenced pistol and everyone is fine with that, well I got no arguments from them after it anyway :-)
believe me i knock everybody out, i just don't kill them.after that i can hack computers, check bodies and do anything i want, and you get more xp for knocking people out this way and get ghost and smooth operator(tha's 750 xp points you don't get if you get caught)there it's so many more advantages for playing stealthy.
this is some sick shit for real
Number has to be way higher for PC. There were ~55K *concurrent* users playing on Steam last week.
I am really digging this game. Where to begin....
I need to pick this game up ASAP! But damn am I glad this series is back, I love the first one(still one of the best games of all time next to the HL series imo)! Enjoy it people, I know I will!
I agree. My two favorite games ever are Half-Life 1 and Deus Ex 1. FPS, and mostly SP FPS, are my favorite types of games. I really like the new deus ex game.
numbers are way higher, this is NOT factoring all the digital sales on pc, walmart does not report, nor best buy, it is more likely closer to 1 million total sales. The dorks on this site just want to talk about xbox selling better, wow, big suprise, not to be a dick, what else are you gonna buy on xbox until gears 3 is out.... plus, i got the pc version with true 1080p, dx11, anti aliasing and mod support incoming for $15 less than the xbox version, so who really wins??? ME :)
Bought it two days ago for $65. Someone sold it to my store today. We sell it for $42.99 used. I get a discount... If I'd waited two days, I could have gotten this game for $37. That's almost $30 I could have saved... (inb4 cool story bro) I'm mad. Amazing game though.
If only the voice acting were better...
Thats awesome news this is a great game and it deserves every cent it earns.
I got the game for ps3, really liking it so far.
Good for them. It's a great game. Probably my GOTY...
