Capcom’s Christian Svensson has issued a response to the complaints regarding the recently-announced DLC packs for their fighting game, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition.
absolute disgrace, capcom has certainly lost my interest as a long term fan of their games, unfortunately this stigma of sloppy dlc as a quick cash in does not bode well with my consumer demands. as much as i loved the demo online i shall not be parting my cash for this title or any other capcom title in the forseeable future. its a shame really cause capcom trully do have the talents to make good games, unfortunately too much energy put into these cheap cash ins on their behalf deters me and i hope many others too therefore making it a no go for next gens business practices
Your loss, OE is great. Unless you still have a working Dreamcast, PS2 or Xbox and a working copy of the game you this is the best and cheapest way to play 3rd Strike. The online match making is a bit bugged but a patch is coming soon to fix that release day hic-up. And of course no one is forcing you to buy, costumes, colors, music or whatever.
If you have a PC you could play the game for free via GGPO.
it is my loss your right. im a big street fighter fan and have been for years now. but i have to make my stand albeit a small one, and i do hope others follow and stop this crap. really costume colours now is a valid reason for them to charge you extra? thats ludicrous.
the game is well worth its price....the dlc is not just don't support the dlc
Do people even give a damn about DLC color? I think DLC itself is wasted.
Agree, I keep playing the demo and im fine with that CAPCOM has lost touch with everything: Games, plot, fans, pricing. All of it at the same time I still hold my head in shame cause I know I will buy Revelations 3ds day one, and Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City. But I will "NOT" touch that DMC reboot.
What reboot? Last DMC game I know of is DMC4. Wish they would make a new breath of fire game. Just recently bought bof4 on psn. Brings back good memories. *continue to deny existence of the sad excuse of a new dmc game.*
I saw what you did there. -thumbs up- And Thats how I feel. A game I would like to see a follow up to is Wild Nine, I loved that game on my Playstation. Note. As I type this the Dead Island trailer plays on my tv. Can't wait >.< me + a Frying Pan = Ultime Zombie Killing Machine.
Don't mean to sound like the old gamer in the room but I remember wayyyyyy back in the day, you could unlock things like extra colors, music, and characters by simply playing the game... And by wayyyyyy back, I mean last gen.
I'm so old, I remember things like codes. You know, like the Konami code? Codes to unlock characters, codes to unlock weapons, codes to allow you to play as the same damn fighter in Street Fighter II. Whatever happened to codes? I miss them. They've been replaced by lame DLC you have to pay for. How the hell can Capcom justify charging $2.99 for colors? COLORS?!! I thought colors were free for all to see? Stupid publishers.
seriously, all this paid dlc shit from capcom is just that, shit. The only reason the keep doing it is because people keep being dumb enough to allow it. I don't purchase game from Capcom any more. I refuse to give my money to a company that will nickle and dime me every chance they get.. not to mention.. the game is how many years old now? I'll keep playing their games for free, until they learn to stop being assholes.
It's CAPCOM.......nuff said.
A year ago, Capcom said they are going heavy DLC. I guess they have really gone overboard with DLC. Even with complains, Capcom knows there are enough fans who will buy every DLC. I just don't buy DLCs. When the full game comes out, I judge the value by the included fighters, costumes, etc before buying it. If there's indication Capcom intentionally removed too much contents to be sold as DLC or if DLC is available immediately, I don't buy the full game.
So people are complaining about not getting their money's worth on something they don't have to buy? The whole point of DLC is that it's optional you don't NEED it to play the game... or did they somehow change that recently?
While DLC is optional but if the publishers intentionally removed part of the contents that were developed for the game, then you are really paying more to have a complete game. Originally, DLC idea was post release newly developed contents but as Capcom has done with several games, most of the DLCs are not post developed contents. It's like includes only "80%" of the contents as "full game" and then sell you the rest of the "20%" as DLC. I prefer to not buy such game than buy it and complain. Capcom can be greedy all they want and I don't buy it. Their lost.
While I get what your saying, in this particular case is it really a big deal? I mean its just colors. BlazBlu, a game not developed by Capcom, has colors as dlc but I don't see ppl going "f*ck Arc System" or anything like that. It has no influence on the gameplay and you don't need it to play the game.
Already had SF Anniversary Collection that include SF III: 3rd Strike, Hyper SF II, and SF II movie in it. So, i don't have the reason for buying this game again or any DLC that cashcom offer to me :)
Honestly, he's right. Say what you want about Capcom, but in terms of the topic which is color DLC for SFIII: OE,then don't buy it if you don't want to. It's really that simple. @All the people riding the hate train, I could easily bash them for cheap 'Agrees' but this topic isn't about Capcom's overall business model, it's about SF3 DLC, so address that.
"Point one, who said we've divulged everything that's in the works for DLC on SF3?" That's what we're afraid of...
I've got my fingers crossed for Color Pack 2!!!
Yea usually I'm a don't buy it is better than complain but color packs should be a play an unlock an on top of not buying there need 2 be a lil complainin...they keep tryin 2 milk there fighters ppl will catch on bet money they make a new darkstalkers game most ppl wait a yr 2 see if a mega edition comes out with dlc being moves list and u hav 2 buy fireballs & uppercuts be4 each fight.lol
I havn't supported Capcom in a good long time. Lost Planet 2 was the last Capcom game I bought and thats because it was 10 euros in HMV. Before that it was Dead Rising 2 and way before that it was Bionic Commando 3D and its reasons like this that I choose not to support them. Yeah yeah I know some people will say your loose mate. But honestly is it really anyones loss except Capcoms. Theres dozens of other great developers making games out there.
Certain things we can blame Capcom on but in this case the game is for people who are buying the dlc. Something like UMVC3, although it hurt the guys who bought the collectors edition, you could see the value in what Ultimate hasto offer. This on the other hand is just stupid and people are to blame because they'll buy it and give reasons for Capcom to do it again
