Electronic Arts has kicked off the virtual season of NFL football later this year. Perhaps to give the NFL and NFLPA some extra time to resolve the lockout, the game publisher built in some extra cushion. That meant a slightly longer wait for armchair quarterbacks. But that wait is now over. Madden NFL 12 is on store shelves and getting good reviews.
The EA Sports franchise has sold over 90 million copies to date. That includes a very healthy 5.5 million copies last year. With the lockout over and a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in place for 10 years, the future looks bright for the football franchise. Video game analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities forecasts sales of the new game as high as 6 million copies.
