Deus Ex: Human Revolution - A Contradictory Masterpiece [NoobFeed]

Daav from NoobFeed.com gets his hands on a cult favorite. Deus ex is widely regarded as a leader in choice-based gameplay, but not everything is as marvelous as future Detroit would let you believe. This smells like a conspiracy theory! (Deus Ex: Human Revolution, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 79/100

Hmmm... 79 out of 100 for a game that is in my top 5 for the generation... *makes a note never to look at noobfeed.com*

no sh*t, a 79... dont ever review a game again. This game is clearly a 95/100 and by far better then mass effect and alot of other games. The only other gr8 game I played this year was inFAMOUS 2. Deus deserves alot more attention then its getting.

Wasnt a huge fan of infamous (not a bad game just not for me, try catherine if your into rpgs)

But this game deff doesnt deserve this score. I would rate it a 9 or 9.5 for sure. Deus ex is easiliy THE BEST game Ive played this year. But alas...different strokes for different folks i guess.

I have to say, I haven't played a finer game in recent memory. The game is near perfect, it IS Deus Ex, in every way. Every way except the boss battles, which I could do without (seeing as I'm going the unseen, non-lethal stealth hacker route).
VileAndVicious  +   1462d ago
I played stealth and it sucked HARD havent to fight bosses. Its like throwing a sheep to a lion (a cool augmented sheep. But a sheep none the less)

But i kind of feel like had edios decided to keep the skill system from the first two deus ex games, playing stealth could have been a bit more manageable.

Hey a review is a review, it's just an opinion at the end of the day. I'm absolutely loving the game personally, it's my favorite title this year so far. But not everyone feels the same at the end of the day. Aslong as this reviewer played from start to finish and gave it a fair shot then I respect his opinion at the end of the day.

If he'd added 1 more point and made it an 80/100 noone would be posting such hate. Human mentality makes 79 look far worse than 80 despite a 1 point difference.

True that, I did finish the game btw, with all side missions. And for the record, I love the game as well. It's everything Deus Ex is, was and should be; though that is from a fan point of view. The review is detailed enough to portray the score, but I enjoyed the comment flames here.

I actually do regard this game higher than Mass Effect in its choice aspects even. But I will review more games; many more. And I'll review them objectively, flaws and all.

I agree with the review, just not the score. The review was solid, but he knocked too many points for the bad character animations and voice work (which is pretty bad imo).

I feel it deserves at least an 85, 90-95 if you can ignore the bad acting and animation.

This is one of the best games I have played all year. I'm not a huge RPG nerd, but when it is presented like Deus EX as far as the choices, weapon system, and the leveling system, I am all in.

I really like the Mass Effect series, but Deus sits a little higher now, having played it.

Here's to hoping they get the animation and voice acting on par with everything else on the next one.

Did you guys really feel like the voice acting was that bad!?
Dont get me wrong, there were definitely some bad actors but i didnt think overall it was worth mentioning if i were to review the game that is.
FragMnTagM  +   1462d ago
I don't know, it just doesn't mix with the rest of the game. The rest is so well done and that is it's weakest point.

It seems almost as if it was contracted out to a different studio and then pasted into the game.

The story itself is great, and everything else is amazing, that is one of my major gripes with the game.

looking for hits much. This game is a masterpiece and aside from Portal 2 the best game i have experienced all year.
harrisonxxi  +   1462d ago
Even Jim Sterling gave this game a 95...somethings fishy here.

Mass Effect is in a class of it's own. If you don't like the 79 rating for DE, tough. Write your own review. But to suggest Deus Ex is anywhere near the genius of Mass Effect is risible. It is a good game, one of the better on offer this year thus far. Leave it at that and stop trying to turn it into a classic, timeless gem. It is not.
VileAndVicious  +   1462d ago
Seriously review scores aside.
Deus ex is a classic, timeless gem. Human revolution is very similar to the first deus ex and its an excellent game. Sure this guy may not have liked it and thats ok, every game isnt for everybody.

But theres no denying it Deus ex is one of THE most heavily borrowed from games Ive ever played. Its been rated one of the best PC games of all times plenty of times. I have both mass effect games and they ARE good but it borrows heavily from deus ex. Deus ex is in a class all its own and in my honest opinion blows Mass effect out of the water in terms of sheer gameplay and atmosphere.
