Dogs Trust to Use Nintendogs + Cats in New Campaign: 'A dog is not a toy'

Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, has teamed up with Nintendo to tackle the urgent problem of fashion dogs being dumped at its rehoming centres; launching the campaign ‘A dog is not a toy’. The campaign has been launched in response to the recent trend of dogs being treated as toys or fashion accessories and carried around in handbags, which has led to a 28% rise in the number of fashion dogs handed into its rehoming centres in the last five years, the majority of which were discarded while they were under twelve months old.
