Microsoft loses Xbox 360 manufacturer

Back in May of this year, reports from Economic Daily News and DigiTimes stated that the Wistron Corporation would gradually discontinue the production of Xbox 360 consoles in 2008. Now, market sources are confirming that the discontinuation has come a bit earlier than expected, and Wistron has completely phased out Xbox 360 production, ending its six year cooperation with Microsoft.

They left MS because the they could not give the quality required.

..and no, I am not saying there hasn't been any design flaws with 360. There was, but no more.

If the design flaw was fixed, what reason would MS have NOT to tell anyone? They refuse to speak of the issue. And I know for a fact that that's what's holding many people from buying the system.

"If the design flaw was fixed, what reason would MS have NOT to tell anyone? They refuse to speak of the issue. And I know for a fact that that's what's holding many people from buying the system." - I totally agree with you.

nearly all the RROD's weren't caused by a design flaw but by substandard sodering work inside the system.

the heat produced throughout the systems so far is no where near enough to ruin the chips the sold became lose because of sub standard techniques this company was the source of such sub standard soldering techniques.

Malkier3542d ago

Yeah, the problem was parts (I believe the gpu?) was becoming detached from the motherboard, which would suggest solder issue and a build that was unable to cope with the heat it was producing.

One bit in the article that sticks out to me:

including parts procurement, assembly and integration, testing, and final box build.

Testing? if these units were truly tested to conditions that the console would face from gameplay, wouldn't someone notice the heat issue, perhaps not the the RROD level, but enough to raise an alarm to require further testing...

Microsoft probably already have a new manufacturer for the 360 to replace them.
