I'm convinced Halo 4 will be a Xbox 720 launch title. It will be a system seller and the start of a new trilogy so it makes perfect sense. Furthermore, it's the only trailer they showed with no 360 logo at the end of it.

zerocrossing2216d ago

I really don't know about that... Both MS and Sony seem to want to get as much life out of there consoles as possible, and considering development for Halo 4 has been going on for a good few years now, I think a release date will probably be announced next year for sometime in 2013. imo of course.

fluffydelusions2216d ago (Edited 2216d ago )

But why announce a new Halo game for 360 followed by a new console? Everyone knows Halo is MS's top seller.

iamnsuperman2216d ago (Edited 2216d ago )

There isn't enough time to develop to make it a launch title. It would be great and makes sense except for the development time. For both PS3 and the 360 I would imagine the last major studios will be doing there exclusives. I can see a 2013 reveal possibly a 2014 reveal pushing it unless a major developer comes out and says we are making a game for 2013 .

Edit: I also forgot to say. Imagine if Halo came out as a launch title. The logistics of making enough Xbox's would be enormous and launch is never the same across all territories so automatic screw over other territories. For a holiday 2012 release for a game means all major territories must have the new xbox which would be a logistical nightmare

edit 2: at below: 2 years to make the game fine. But would the new xbox be ready 2 years ago. no

fluffydelusions2216d ago

@iamnsuperman They have been working on Halo 4 for 2 years already

Raven_Nomad2216d ago

I was convinced that Halo 4 would be a launch title as well, but the fact that Microsoft is doing so utterly well, I'm starting to doubt it's a launch title. Also we've got rumors of Fable 4 in 2013.

Not that I'd be completely surprised to hear Halo 4 and Gears Of War Exile as Xbox 720 titles, as it would make sense to announce new trilogies on new hardware. Plus we've been hearing a lot about Crytek working on something for Xbox 720.

It could happen...I mean you'd be foolish to think Microsoft hasn't had a new Xbox in development for years now.

Convas2216d ago

Microsoft's habit has been to have 2 (TWO) numbered Halo entries per console generation.

Xbox = Halo: Combat Evolved; Halo 2

Xbox 360 = Halo 3, Halo 4

NeXbox = Halo 5, Halo 6

kingdoms2216d ago

Halo 4 has been in development for 2 years on the 360's hardware as Microsoft has said. Microsoft will spread this trilogy across generations like they did the first. Can somebody tell me where this theory comes from that defies the very announcement Microsoft made themselves? How is there even a discussion over this theory?

i thought the armour shown in Halo trailer looked badass :D

If you continue the story of a trilogy, it's no longer a trilogy. Ridiculous how they try to justify that crap. Just say "Look, we never knew Halo would be so popular, and we're continuing the story until you stop buying it."

-LUKE_SKYWALKER-2216d ago

So if you were a game developer and made a game on the idea of it being a trilogy but its got so popular that fans eat breath your game are you just going to tell millions of your fans to [email protected]#k off and let it die?

No justs no - Mass Effect is a trilogy but I have fallen in love with the charaters and universe so I hope Bioware continue to make more Mass Effect.

CaptainMarvelQ82216d ago (Edited 2216d ago )

Actually....I disagree.
Sometimes Devs need to stick to their words,Even if i love the series,i don't want them to overdo it and end up in ruining it.
An example of this is Uncharted; I find this game one of the best this gen and absolutely adore it.but i honestly don't want them to continue after the third installment.End it with a bang.

"So if you were a game developer and made a game on the idea of it being a trilogy but its got so popular that fans eat breath your game are you just going to tell millions of your fans to [email protected]#k off and let it die? "

Then don't call it a trilogy?
Tri = 3.

Are people really disagreeing with the literal meaning of a word? :p

AO1JMM2216d ago

Halo CE thru Halo 3 trilogy is done. Halo 4 thru 6 starts off obviously after Halo 3 and is a whole new trilogy and storyline.

cl19832216d ago (Edited 2216d ago )

I'd say that since 343 is now doing the work, instead of bungie, that calling halo 4 5 6 a second trilogy is perfectly acceptable.

edit

Also at e3 343 stated halo 4 would be out holidays 2010.

tigertron2216d ago

I'm pretty dissapointed with the Halo 4 news at Halo Fest. I was expecting a gameplay trailer and information on the beta, and its not alot to ask for a game thats been in development for 2-3 years now.

It doesn't however confirm that Halo 4 will be a launch title for the next Xbox. It says Xbox 360 on the site, after the trailer it shows the 360 Jump In bit, and also, 343i themselves said it would be a 360 game. Why would Microsoft show off a launch title before announcing the console itself? Halo 4 will be the 360's finale encore, and I'm hoping it'll give the 360 a fitting send off and live up to the hype.

Convas2216d ago (Edited 2216d ago )

We're a year away from launch dude. There is no way in hell they'd give us anything more than a few crumbs from the bread baking in the over.

And honestly, I'd rather it be this way. What's the sense of giving us a ton of juicy information, just so we end up waiting till December (Spike's Video Game Awards) or February (Microsoft's X12 event) or an imminent GameInformer reveal in March to find out information.

Sure, the wait is daunting now, but there are a bunch of games + Halo: Anniversary on the horizon.

AO1JMM2216d ago

I am thinking the next VGAs or the Next E3 for a gameplay trailer of Halo 4

Reborn2216d ago

Well, if it continues to improve over each game, then why would you be concerned about how many they do?

If it hits the point where it's becoming 'stale'.. then its another story.
