There are some of us that will never forget the 8-bit art we fell in love with as children, no matter how
slick modern graphics get. Pixel based art is appealing for the same reason that older video games can still be so much fun to play. Part of it is just nostalgia, but the more important part is that this art was created using a very restricted number of options and yet it looks great. It's amazing that early video game makers were able to convince us that we were looking at magic mushrooms, fireballs and robots when we were really only looking at chunky blocks of color.
