NGB: Why I Love... Trials HD

So, what is Trials HD? It’s probably best described as a time/score attack game, where you have to get your rider and his motorcycle through an obstacle course as fast, and as safely as possible. It’s not particularly original – ExciteBike was the first on the NES, and there are a whole host of flash games based off the idea, and Trials HD itself is not the first in the Trials franchise – but Trials HD took the concept further than ever before, putting it in a graphically impressive 3D environment, bolstered by equally impressive physics. God, I love Trials HD. I spent so many hours competitng with friends for the best time, but the best aspect was the level editor. I would sit and draw out designs in a notebook and then spend weeks getting one track just right. I even had quite a following on the forums who looked forward to each time I released a new track.

Happy days.

Actually, I'm going to go have a shot of it. Just one go. Just one. One more. And another......

I love it as well...
... one of the best games on XBLA.

I always restarted the level as soon as I lost a single 'life' (try/crash), so I only moved on to the next level if I had finished the level I was playing with my first life and under the Gold time-limit :)

Needless to say I haven't finished the game yet. I'm 'stuck' on that level where you start by climbing a HUGE 'mountain' of steel....

By Odin's beard I hated that damn "mountain". Many a night did I dream of melting it all down, all the while laughing like a maniac.

On retrospect, it's probably a good thing I stopped playing.....
