If You Don't Like Uncharted, You Need Help

PSX Extreme - Over the years, I've learned that when it comes to entertainment, there's just no such thing as a universally appealing product. No matter how good it is, you'll find someone somewhere that just doesn't like it.

Nice article. I enjoy the Uncharted franchise, but I know that there are people out there that don't care about it, which is fine by me. Anyone who saw GTTV yesterday knows that a member of Kotaku's editorial staff blatantly said that he "didn't care" about Uncharted 3. Geoff was like, "WHAAAAT!" LMAO.

Kotaku's not the most reputable of sites for gaming accuracy, reviews, or to glean facts from, tbh.

Most people that don't like Uncharted show a preference to open-world/free roam games and apparently hate hundreds games that happen to be linear because they do nothing but complain about the linearity.

Honestly, I love how engaging it is. I like the story. I like the cinematic story cutscenes. I like how all action scenes are in-game and keep you in control.

Outside of totilo kotaku has turned into more jaded sensationalist commentary, than unbiased game news... And I don't like it...

Good read.
Uncharted 2 was a masterpiece, but am all for different opinions.

im one of the few people who cant really get into uncharted. fun series, but a little to overly cinematic for my taste. stoked to play uncharted 3, but its probably last on my list. i appreciate the game and what it accomplishes yet it just doesn't click with me as a whole.

Yeah, I hear you. A lot of people don't like the fact that it plays like a straight line. You could have gotten more replay value from other SP experiences at the time with a game like AC2 for example which gives you TONS of choice in how you tackle a mission given the open world setting.

UC2 tried to mix things up by giving you options to use stealth in some levels...but they NEED to give you more freedom of how you choose to play in Uncharted 3. ND is on the right track from what I hear. Apparently you can now use environmental objects during melee combat.

So, you compare a linear game to a sandbox game... Sandbox games in general tend to give you a lot more choices on how to tackle missions or such. Try comparing UC to other linear games and show how they give you more freedom of choice on how to tackle a mission, I'd love to see it.

Burackus2303d ago

Not saying you but its funny that you hear that a lot about uncharted and not other games like gears which is pretty much the same way

Michael-Jackson2303d ago (Edited 2303d ago )

I'm wondering, how often do you die in 3rd person shooters? or it's just Uncharted.

guyver42302d ago

I feel like if I owned ONLY a PS3 then I would think that Uncharted 2 was the greatest game ever made like some overly enthusiastic adolescent males. But IMHO it is a great game that has earned its accolades and awards BUT like most great games it is far from the perfect master piece that people like keighley make it out to be... Dude we get it geoff really likes uncharted...

dangert122303d ago

Uncharted Is good but recently I've started to go of western games as they seem to lack depth =( trying to open up to wider audiences is destroying gaming for me

"If you don't like it, there's something wrong with you." Included on that list are classics like Super Mario Bros., Tetris, and Pac-Man."

People hate me for this, but really the only Mario games I liked were Super Mario World and NSMB for the DS. I never played the Galaxy's but I didn't like Sunshine or 64, and the nes games are decent but nowhere close good enough to make Mario the mascot of video games.
