PSX Extreme - Over the years, I've learned that when it comes to entertainment, there's just no such thing as a universally appealing product. No matter how good it is, you'll find someone somewhere that just doesn't like it.
Nice article. I enjoy the Uncharted franchise, but I know that there are people out there that don't care about it, which is fine by me. Anyone who saw GTTV yesterday knows that a member of Kotaku's editorial staff blatantly said that he "didn't care" about Uncharted 3. Geoff was like, "WHAAAAT!" LMAO.
Kotaku's not the most reputable of sites for gaming accuracy, reviews, or to glean facts from, tbh.
Most people that don't like Uncharted show a preference to open-world/free roam games and apparently hate hundreds games that happen to be linear because they do nothing but complain about the linearity. ____ Honestly, I love how engaging it is. I like the story. I like the cinematic story cutscenes. I like how all action scenes are in-game and keep you in control.
Outside of totilo kotaku has turned into more jaded sensationalist commentary, than unbiased game news... And I don't like it...
Good read. Uncharted 2 was a masterpiece, but am all for different opinions.
im one of the few people who cant really get into uncharted. fun series, but a little to overly cinematic for my taste. stoked to play uncharted 3, but its probably last on my list. i appreciate the game and what it accomplishes yet it just doesn't click with me as a whole.
Yeah, I hear you. A lot of people don't like the fact that it plays like a straight line. You could have gotten more replay value from other SP experiences at the time with a game like AC2 for example which gives you TONS of choice in how you tackle a mission given the open world setting. UC2 tried to mix things up by giving you options to use stealth in some levels...but they NEED to give you more freedom of how you choose to play in Uncharted 3. ND is on the right track from what I hear. Apparently you can now use environmental objects during melee combat.
So, you compare a linear game to a sandbox game... Sandbox games in general tend to give you a lot more choices on how to tackle missions or such. Try comparing UC to other linear games and show how they give you more freedom of choice on how to tackle a mission, I'd love to see it.
Not saying you but its funny that you hear that a lot about uncharted and not other games like gears which is pretty much the same way
I'm wondering, how often do you die in 3rd person shooters? or it's just Uncharted.
I feel like if I owned ONLY a PS3 then I would think that Uncharted 2 was the greatest game ever made like some overly enthusiastic adolescent males. But IMHO it is a great game that has earned its accolades and awards BUT like most great games it is far from the perfect master piece that people like keighley make it out to be... Dude we get it geoff really likes uncharted...
Uncharted Is good but recently I've started to go of western games as they seem to lack depth =( trying to open up to wider audiences is destroying gaming for me
"If you don't like it, there's something wrong with you." Included on that list are classics like Super Mario Bros., Tetris, and Pac-Man." People hate me for this, but really the only Mario games I liked were Super Mario World and NSMB for the DS. I never played the Galaxy's but I didn't like Sunshine or 64, and the nes games are decent but nowhere close good enough to make Mario the mascot of video games.
Tetris is so boring IMO.
I dont like uncharted....because its not out yet.. Uncharted hasnt really changed too much. It has its own formula and it works for the majority who like action adventure 3rd person type games. If you dont like it then thats kool, each to their own but games like uncharted are equivalent to summer blockbuster movies. Big bang, big fun. I dont want it to change. If i want it to be something eles i may as well play that something else. Uncharted is uncharted
and if someone gives Uncharted 3 a 7 they are trolling.
Unless it turns out it deserves a 7(it probably wont be that low...) But seriously the game isn't out we don't know if its good or bad, how many sequels has the industry messed up royally? Not saying I think that will happen, just saying wait and see
Uncharted is a great game. Some people have their own taste like those COD geeks. They'll say the same thing about COD.
Im one of the few who preferred Drake's Fortune > Among Thieves. Story was better, better character development, and better setting. On a technical level however, Among Thieves was amazing.
Who gives a [email protected] about the people who don't like Uncharted. If they don't they don't but for us that do well... lets just play the game!
