Rumor: Walmart dropping Xbox 360 4GB Kinect bundle to $249 on Aug. 28

The upcoming Walmart circular reveals that the mega-retailer will do a "rollback" on the price of the Xbox 360 4GB Kinect bundle, dropping it to $249 (down $50 from the current price). The flyer provided was for the week beginning August 28.

The story is too old to be commented.

That's not a bad deal. So what about the standalone 4gb and 250gb models?

the stand alone price for kinect. If that was $99 it would sell huge this holiday. You figure there are probably more out there with 360's that would get one by itself.

I have to admit...I been watching CL for kinect deals cause the $150 store price is a bit steep. So far the best one (that got away) was the kinect and 3 games for $100. DAMN!

And just like that...the price war continues. Anyone who thought MS wouldn't do something to counter the Sony drop was kidding themselves. It may not be an official drop but I am sure MS will offer some behind doors incentives and new bundles.

They've used Wal-Mart(and others) before to boost 360 sales to take some edge off of the competition's price cuts. Microsoft has done these low key counters before( kill'em with bug bit tactics) Microsoft won't do an official pricedrop this year based on 360's momentum but they're not fools and don't take the competition for granted.

Edit
How in the hell is that wishful thinking? Whenever Sony drops, they use these retailers to test if they actually need an official price drop. This has happened every time. They'll use different retailers as pricedrop place holders until they want or need to drop if they feel the need.

@Kingdoms
Sounds like wishful thinking on your part. Kinect and the Xbox 360 are getting price cuts this year. We might not see them till November everywhere, but expect huge deals like this and the 5 game bundle deal a lot. I'd expect Amazon to start offering $50 cards as well soon.

Shaping up to look like a $99 Kinect to me. Which would sell absolutely like crazy.

I don't think anyone here ever said Microsoft wouldn't do SOMETHING to counter Sony's price drop. What people said is that they may do it with bundles instead of a direct console price cut. This seems in line with that thinking.

I agree that most here thought they would do something, whether it be bundles / price cuts / timed roll backs / or manufactur incentives to retailers but it was just a week ago we saw articles from the likes of the Examiner saying "No price drop in 2011 for Xbox 360".

Raven_Nomad2303d ago (Edited 2303d ago )

Obviously Microsoft is planning on taking the fight straight to Sony/Nintendo this holiday.

I would expect a full price cut on Kinect $99, 250 gig Xbox 360 $249, 4 gig Xbox 360 $179 and of course bundles.

I hope the 5 game bundle goes around the world, it would give MS a huge boost in sales. Kinect sales will be helped with some decent titles later this year, Dance Central 2, Kinect Sports 2, Rise Of Nightmares, Gunstringer ect...

Going to be one hell of a season for MS yet again!

qwertyz2303d ago

yep a $50 price cut on everything. I knew it was only a matter of time before MS responded.

SuperStrokey11232303d ago

I assume this is just a temporary sale then? Rollbacks typically are.

IM_A_NINJA2303d ago

No, rollbacks are price cuts. If it was for a limited time the ad would say so. I'd expect similar cuts soon from every store.

I think the one week boost Sony got was more then enough for Microsoft to respond, now we'll be back to square one. Price cuts pretty much negate each other.

SuperStrokey11232303d ago

INteresting, as ive seen lots of rollbacks not stay "rolledback" at least up here in Canada.
