El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron Review | Piki Geek

Piki Geek: Take Salvador Dali, introduce him to Lady Gaga and a crate of Wild Turkey, and two weeks later have him direct Noah’s Ark: The Prequel. This is more or less what I imagine Takeyasu Sawaki had in mind when he first pitched El Shaddai to London based Ignition Entertainment, a company previously known for shoving Twin Peaks into a leather catsuit and six-inch heels and calling the resulting game “Deadly Premonition”. (El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, PS3, Xbox 360) 5/5

As much as I love this game, it doesn't seem like it knows what it wants to be. Is it Castlevania, is it Onimusha, is it Banjo Kazooie? But I guess it doesn't really matter... It is more than the sum of it's parts, and those parts add up to quite a bit.
