Ethan Powers of Attack of the Fanboy discusses why Japanese gamers might be more excited for the Vita than the Wii U, according to a recent Famitsu survey.
Can you blame anybody for that? The Wii U was just announced and there are no exclusives to talk about. Smash Bros was announced, but even the developer was surprised it got announced since he didn't even start working on it yet. There's no telling when that's even coming out. Everything else shown are games already on other systems. And that Zelda video shown....after showing that Zelda video when they announced the Gamecube and NOT releasing it, I won't hold my breath. Edit: It's this video, by the way: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Duh...Japan's gaming demographic leans to handhelds. Also Japan support towards gaming has always been towards the artistic side in contrast to the western focus of shaders, etc. Which is why Japan support for HD consoles has weakened and focused on the handheld gaming. Especially when current handhelds emit the same graphics of last gen consoles.
I'm actually glad, to be honest. I enjoy Japanese games and I enjoy handhelds. Hopefully the future consists of only handhelds that you can conveniently hook up to your TV and play your games at 1080p then take it with you on the go.
I think it has more to do with not knowing much if anything about the Wii U and its capabilities compared to getting all the specs for the Vita and all the great games coming to the system as well as being assured with all the gameplay footage that it can do HD and do it well
cause the Vita is Hot while the WiiU is just OK!
the Vita isnt hot the 3ds is hot it started off abit rocky but the 3ds will prove its power and smash the Vita to pieces end of Revelations looks like a Lost planet graphics on a handheld oh the WiiU is 1080p native and aliens has much higher resolution textures ie better Vita cant even do ps3 graphics Sonys words and codemasters without lowerfing the textures resolution and dubbing down the poly counts alot capcom and konami have said the 3ds handles the same poly counts as ps3 if u desire
"after showing that Zelda video when they announced the Gamecube and NOT releasing it" Yeah cause i want to play a tech demo...
I think you're missing the point here. A lot of people thought it was a tech demo using a game already in development. Use your head before you post, smartypants.
No where did Nintendo say "This is an in development game". So maybe you should use your head?
Because handhelds rule Japan maybe?
Duplicate article. But yea like Fluffydelusions said, handhelds rule Japan. Pokemon and Monster Hunter reign supreme. Not to mention, we still really don't know anything about the Wii U, while we have almost all the info on the Vita.
Because the Vita is portable and the WiiU isnt. Japan has always loved gamming on the go even more so than western society. And i guess that is due to the Japanese always being on the move. BTW the WiiU was just announced and the presentation was confusing as hell. Just give it time and it will increase in popularity once people accept it for what it is. And thats a strange Nintendo console.
This is because Japan buy more hand held consoles than the rest of the world. Now the 3DS has had a price drop it should be interesting to see which way they go in Japan as price is a massive factor in Japan.
Because Japanese know that PSVita is more awesome.
Japan have taste, PS Vita is awesome. All Wii U footage shown at E3 by Ninty was smoke & mirrors. PS3 & 360 footage shown mostly, not good to dupe your possibe future customers.
"All Wii U footage shown at E3 by Ninty was smoke & mirrors. " So moving the camera in that Zelda tech demo was controlled behind doors? LOL.
not this article again
earthquakes? its easier to grab a Vita I guess than a WiiU
cause the Vita is a gaming machine and a social media, the Wii U is idk yet
Surely, it's just because the Vita is released earlier. What are you most looking forward to? The cake you'll eat next week or the one you'll eat in 2 years' time?
ok they would be cause vita will have a short lifespan, plus it has a release date and they know all the details and it comes out soon.....the wiiu nintendo is keeping under wraps until its done and ready
Japan prefers gaming on the go. It's that simple. If you go there and see how busy and non stop society is there, people barely have time to sit at home and play console games. Kids have long hours at school, then have cram schools. Adults work silly hours. Portable gaming is perfect for the Japanese life style.
