Splinter Cell Retribution: The next title revealed?

OXCGN:

"It there’s any specific Ubisoft franchise that the world wants more of than anything else, logical assumptions point to Splinter Cell. And at that, more titles within the ranks of Chaos Theory, versus the style of Conviction.

"Slowly and slowly, information has been leaked out about the future of the series over the course of a year, and the pieces have been falling into place.

"OXCGN has done some research, compiled the evidence, and found some surprising answers.

"Sam Fisher’s return is imminent; the question is, will you see him through his journey?"

sweet, im buying the splinter cell collection, cant wait for a new one.;

Yeah I'm also gonna pick it up. I hope the next one is more like the first three. That's when Splinter Cell was at its best.

I doubt it I dont care about that game at all

user8586212593d ago

agreed, the new one is ridiculously easy, but the original games are hard as f*ck!!

damnyouretall2593d ago

yeah i loved the first 3 games. i even loved conviction though it was different. if ubisoft combines both styles it would be awesome. i hope they add multiple takedowns like a bourne movie, drag the bodies , split jump and please bring back the knife. just sayin

I really enjoyed Conviction. I think long time followers didn't like the change, but anyone new or just a fan of Splintercell enjoyed the game.

limewax2593d ago

I'm a splinter cell fan and in all honesty it just didn't cut it for me, I remember playing double agent on 360, and I really enjoyed sneaking through all the levels undetected even though it was nowhere near as good as the originals.

Conviction kind of stole that, I can't even remember the game too well now, but I remember there being too many forced firefights for a splinter cell game

otherZinc2592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

The only thing I didn't like about Conviction is they didn't let us hide the bodies. Other than that the game was great.

I like the co-op play. It will be another day 1 purchase of 2 copies for the co-op play if its the same or better than Conviction!

@e-p-ayeaH,
No. I hope it isn't on the PS3 for the simple fact, Splinter Cell:Conviction had a great co-op mode with multiple entry ways to complete a level!

PS3 doesnt do that well, there is to much linearity to the levels in a PS3 game. Everyone knows this: this is why Bullet Storm isn't
co-op when Gears 3 is 4 player co-op, also, see Rainbow 6 Vegas & how terrible that is on the PS3.

So No, I hope it stays exclusive to the 360. I dont want that game sacrificed in any manner!

e-p-ayeaH2593d ago

Hopefully this will be on the PS3.

Proeliator2593d ago

I think if they continue with the Conviction direction, it will still be exclusive. But if they go back to the old style, it'll be multiplat as to "reach a wider audience." (I hate that phrase so much!)

BattleAxe2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

I don't own a 360, so I bought Conviction on Steam, and I thought it was an awesome game. The co-op was really fun, but Infiltration mode is really tough, guess I'll just have to keep at it.

seinfan2593d ago

Such a misleading title. It's all guesswork.

gaminoz2593d ago

Looks like they realised that and edited it to show that the next title is likely Retribution...

Raven_Nomad2593d ago

Conviction did well for Microsoft, Ubi said all it would take was some more money and the next would be exclusive too. I can definitely see the next Splinter Cell being Xbox 360 exclusive yet again. Conviction was the first Splinter Cell game I was actually able to finish, loved the new style, graphics and story.

e-p-ayeaH2593d ago (Edited 2593d ago )

Conviction´s story was great but the gameplay was way to over the top for my taste.

Like MW2 did to CoD4.

ksense2592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

it is not going to be exclusive to 360. it will be on ps3

Cpt_kitten2593d ago

can't wait

and the play style is going to be based on the story of the game

conviction as the devs said multiple times was changed because Sam was not a part of third echilon anymore and seeing how his range of emotions came together from all the events of every other SC game. He was pissed and out for blood, i had no problem with the play style of Conviction, though i did miss the take it slow and don't get caught of the first 4 for Sam's char progression to come to a close like that the game play was perfect

im more interested where they will take the story, best guess would be going after black arrow and finding an even bigger terrorist threat and have to take that out.....and hopefully Grimm will be back

Hooshuwashu2593d ago

as the article added, in EndWar, Grim is the head of Third Echelon - and that's in 2020, with Conviction in 2011. She'll be back :)

Convas2593d ago

Black Arrow? Wasn't it Megiddo that was pulling the strings in Conviction? I would think that Sam would be joining back up with Third Echelon and taking them on.

Cpt_kitten2593d ago

maybe that would be interesting

what ever the case it would prolly have to involve Sarah more because has always been a key factor but Conviction brought her more into the story than before

yaz2882593d ago

"conviction as the devs said multiple times was changed because Sam was not a part of third echilon anymore and seeing how his range of emotions came together from all the events of every other SC game. He was pissed and out for blood"

Oh that make sense ,wish I had known that earlier
now I am less pissed about convection
but I didn't like the story at all ,it is the worst of all the sc games imo

I am looking forward to the next game
