OXM Review: Rock Band well worth the Price Tag

The U.S. edition of the Official Xbox Magazine, Holiday '07, has gone in-depth with the Xbox 360 version of Rock Band. The verdict? A 9.5, and the title "Gaming's most intensely rewarding co-op experience". This also puts it ahead of the Guitar Hero III score of an 8.0.

Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulous also mentions that they are considering releasing "authoring tools" so that you can put your own music into Rock Band.

The story is too old to be commented.

Is it me or since Bioshock, reviewers just throw away 9's and 10's to games? Or are they just THAT good they're close to master pieces?

I don't know, I think the whole "perfect 10" thing is getting out of hand. A movie that gets four stars or "Two thumbs up" from Ebert and Roeper are not "perfect" even though they got the highest score possible. It's not fair to say that the best game ever created can only be a 9.9 because no game will ever be perfect. It's just not right to hold games to an impossible standard that will never be reached. Any game rated between 9 and 10 is just basically giving it "Two thumbs up... WAY up" and I think that's perfectly fair.

i played rock band at best buy today, ROCKS!!!!!! Also about the high scores, i think there have been just a lot of good games lately. Bioshock ROCKS, and it deserved the score it got, not a freaking 8, LOL. Games dont always need multiplayer.

You have your good single players games: Bioshock, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, etc.

And then your multiplayer games you can play: Gears of War, Halo 3, COD4, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, Splinter Cell. Why would you want to play a multiplayer version of every FREAKING GAME????
