Great game that i hav played

Yi-Long4639d ago

... it's been probably those games that weren't big-budget, but games like Super Meat Boy, ilomilo, PURE, TrialsHD and Battlefield 1943.

From the bigger games, it's been Valkyria Chronicles, FIFA WC2010 (better than FIFA11), Batman Arkham Asylum, GTA4 and Assassin's Creed 2 GOTY.

To be honest only one really tugs at my memory this gen repeatedly, despite its inevitable flaws.

Mirrors Edge, So much potential hidden in that gem.

A lot of the games you mentioned are some of my favorites, Yet despite being technically superior to my choice in many aspects, I find ME highlights many aspects of gaming that I miss, While remaining unique

On consoles going to hands down agree that mirrors edge is the best most innovative game out there.

It has inspired mo on at least four games I want to make in the future.

On Pc though I'm going to say minecraft for having some of the creepiest moments I've ever had in gaming. Ever.

The raw natural unscripted feel of the game allows it to get downright unsettling when your deep underground, in a dark cave, with dwindling torches and the moaning and shuffling of zombies all about. Though you really aren't sure where, and kind of want to avoid digging into a room full of them accidentally with out a good escape plan.

Back to mirrors edge though I think it was sad that the game was soooo short. I really enjoyed the anti combat. The time trials were fun but I find myself replaying through the story more often than not.

One of the games I want to makes is basically mirrors edge except slightly more aggressive in terms of combat. Mostly because the story would put you in fifteenth century london fighting vawpires werewolves and undead. Probably with some kind of necromancer or lich cult back story.

I'm thinking of having it work similarily to mirrors edge combat in that if your going one on one you can almost always win, but when you start getting more enemies theirs a tipping point. Usually at like two or three, maybe four for undead. The Vamps and werewolves will be stronger and encountered more singly, though I would definitely leave opportunities for engagements that couldn't be handled by a direct confrontation.

So kind of like run around to try and get them seperated long enough to take one out, then work on the others. Maybe have to kite them sometimes.

Strange, It had similar effects on you as it did me, It has influenced me too. The game I plan (hope) to make with inspired ideas is another anti combat game, Except with a dinosaur theme, My general idea is that instead of the controls initiating an escape based moved that is based around you, I would rather it be based around the environment, Allowing you to pull in nearby object to block the pursuing enemies as you run for safety.

There is a lot I actually have planned for my future project but to go into depth here would fill a lot of room lol.

I really like the idea of your game, A zombie/werewolf/vamps game with a break from the usual 'shoot like crazy' mold would be very refreshing, I could see it working very well with the contrast of enemy types too, and how the mobs of zombies and the werewolves/vamps in smaller numbers could apply a big change to gameplay styles too

For me the best game i ever played this Gen would have to be MGS4 for sure. Beat the game like 5 times already and it never gets old, the story is just very nice and if you've been following solid snake since the first Mgs you'll love all the cool characters that return and the way the story turns. I can never get enough of watching the last epic fight with Snake Vs Liquid/Ocelot.

My top 3 would have to be
-MGS4
-Halo Reach just because the story is so Awesome!
-Uncharted 2... Nathan Drake.. Enough said.

Some notable mentions would be Arkham Asylum, BioShock, Oblivion, and Demon Souls.

MGS4 was definitely my runner up choice. I loved that game.

GTA IV
it was like dream comes true, unbelievable experience at that time

Ducky4639d ago

Yea... robbing a bank in GTA4, and having your in-game cellphone tell you that you're late for a job interview.

Still, the 'would you kindly' bit from Bioshock retains the throne in my memory.

PirateThom4639d ago

MGS4, Microwave corridor.

Outstanding.

ShadowJetX4639d ago

That was an outstanding scene, it was pretty tiring too. The fight with Ocelot had me shed a few tears as well.

SweatyFlorida4639d ago

Agreed. Probably the most memorable moment in gaming for me

consolez_FTW4639d ago (Edited 4639d ago )

All of MGS4(particularly Raiden vs Vamp) , any boss fight in GOW3, that train crash scene in UC2, and in KZ3 when u first get to the MAWLR boss battle, I've never been so immersed in a 1st person shooter. lol I felt like I was there. it must have been the ISA soldiers yelling and the great graphics. Those are my best gaming memories this gen.
