In other gaming circles, Pain has been described as something like "Tony Hawk, but more crude." GameSpy prefers "Crash Mode meets Jackass." Many things can be said about this game from Sony's San Diego studio, but the target audience is fairly indisputable. In the same way that "Beavis and Butt-head" spoke to a generation a decade and a half ago, Pain is geared toward that fifteen-year-old boy inside of all of us. The PlayStation Store title is slated to drop at the end of the month for $9.99, and though it looks like a fart-laden package that would fit perfectly in Mike Judge's film "Idiocracy," it's also going to be an interesting experiment in Sony's plans for pushing downloadable content in another direction.
