For months many of you have asked for details on whether or not there will be Collector’s Edition for Skyrim. At the end of a rousing QuakeCon presentation, game director Todd Howard confirmed its existence.
This will sure be popular but as much I need skyrim I dont buy collectors editions ever.
Same, as much as I love the game I just wouldn't pay that much more just for a few extra things, I always get tempted by the figure but I just don't care for the extra dvds and artbooks.
Wait this means i could almost buy 3 copies of Dark Souls Collector's Edition. Dark Souls it is...
$150? For a Dragon Statue and an Art Book? And I thought the Prestige Edition of COD was rediculous. I like Collectors Editions but this price is pretty hefty for what you're getting.
I just want to watch the behind the scenes footage...I could care less about the statue or art book. Why can't they do a middle version like COD does? Regular, limited, collectors editions or something like that? I rarely buy collector's editions either trainsinrdr.
There are some massive fans of the Elder Scrolls who don't have the money to pay over 3x as much for a statue. I would seriously love the art book but can't afford this. :(
Everybody wants the art books, but few want a stupid collectible figure. That's cool if it's your thing, but it sucks that you have to pay so much extra for the artbook, because there's a statue you never wanted!
@truth... I just want the DVD. I don't need any of the other stuff.
Buy the regular edition, buy art book later on ebay and then watch the making of DVD all you want shortly after launch on Youtube. Problem solved and money saved.
@iron... Never...fucking...thought of that haha good call.
I'm surprised that the collectors edition doesn't include a silly hat for Team Fortress 2.
I don't have that kind of money. Oh well.
Yeah, at $150 it's a hard sell for those of us who aren't dying for the statue. A $100 edition with just the art book and making-of DVD would be nice.
You'd pay 100 bucks for an art book and making of DVD? Wow, lol.
@ProjectSiK: Well it is a 200 page art book, so an extra $40 for that and the DVD doesn't sound unreasonable. Now an extra $90 for that stuff plus the statue . . . that's a bit much for me.
This content is really worth only the $99 price tag here. I mean considering collectors editions like halo reach that came with not only a pretty big statue, but also a ton of stuff worth of content in books and in-game stuff, this really seems over priced to me.
0-0 my life has been made complete *loud screams*
Wtf loud screams?
hell yeah ive been waiting for them to announce this since they announced Skyrim, played since ES arena, all these people are complaining about the price but a true fan of anything never cares about the price......unless in the case of Dead Space 2 where they claimed full replica and gave a burger king kids meal toy instead
If thats all it contains its overpriced compared to reach,kz3,infamous 2 and swtor ce's.
Seriously. For that price, I would expect them to throw in a soundtrack, a poster (or a cloth like substance with the skyrim logo on it, like a flag or perhaps something that looks/feels like an actual scroll), some special DLC, a textured steel book case, and maybe some other random small trinket, like a ring or a necklace or something. $150 is way too much for a statue, an artbook and a making of dvd (the last 2 being available online for free).
I would expect a large shield to come with it at that price...you know to fight people
"For that price, I would expect them to throw in a soundtrack, a poster (or a cloth like substance with the skyrim logo on it, like a flag or perhaps something that looks/feels like an actual scroll), some special DLC, a textured steel book case, and maybe some other random small trinket, like a ring or a necklace or something." "or a cloth like substance with the skyrim logo on it" "cloth like substance" THIS
I would like to get this... but with most Bethseda games, I find [more] value in getting the GOTY edition. Problem is, I'll have to wait a long time for its release.
But its worth it, not like if there is any multiplayer. And by that time youll know if the game is a bust like Dragon Age 2. Personally i waited for Uncharted 2 GOTY 29.99, totally worth it.
additionally (with Bethesda games) it's usually a better deal on the DLC, assuming they have been released prior. which is highly likely.
Sometimes it's worth buying these collectors editions just to keep hold of for a while. You tend to get more than your money back for them at the very least. I bought the Fallout 3 collectors edition with the lunchbox and bobblehead and sold them for over £80 just a few months after I bought them, without the game. I only paid £49 for it.
It's kind of like investment in the long run, the amount of money people would pay for a CE if they are Sold out at retailers is unbelivable, I saw a person on ebay selling the codex book from the Assassins Creed Codex edition for £200 a few months after it had come out and it was only the book. The orginal price of everything was £69.99. The longer you have it the more people will pay in the future...and in the world we live in today there are idiots with a lot of money who would pay for a CE if you are selling it at a ridiculous price.
Exactly, yeah. Some people will pay through the nose for collectors items, and you can use that to your advantage. I'm not sure whether I would buy this at the price, but you would probably be able to pick it up a bit cheaper at various places, two or three weeks after it launches, if you keep your eyes peeled. It's worth bearing in mind anyway, for any game really. People will pay top dollar for anything that's hard to get hold off, and the longer you leave selling it then the harder it will be for someone to get hold off.
OMG that is AMAZING :D but... A Making of DVD....really something which should already be on the disc as an unlockable like ND do with Uncharted and they want us to pay for it. I'd rather have a metal Skyrim logo EDIT: I don't see why people are disagreeing like MrSpace has said below it's a limited edition thing, we shouldn't be paying for something which other people can view or listen to for free.
Making of DVDs, Golden Guns and Soundtracks should be things that come with limited editions because your right you can listen/watch them on Youtube after the game comes out. A collectors edition is something which your supposed to have which over people don't have. No point having a making of dvd when other people can watch it for FREE.
I'm so sick of developers doing this with their collector's edition. $69.99 - Hell yeah, I'm down with that price for a CE $79.99 - Okay, the contents definitely warrant the extra 20 dollars $89.99 - Oh yeah, devs skip straight to 100 $99.99 - I REALLY like this series and I REALLY like the contents of this package so I'm down with this ---- $150.00 - Screw you. Seriously, not one collector's edition is worth 150, these are the editions that drop SIGNIFICANTLY within a month. The thing that sucks is I would really like to own this but I don't want to wait for it to drop to a reasonable price before I play Skyrim:\
"The thing that sucks is I would really like to own this but I don't want to wait for it to drop to a reasonable price before I play Skyrim:\" Plus they might not have any left to make them go down in price. EDIT: Well here in the UK once there gone there gone....the only one I;ve seen to stick around was the Killzone 3 Helghast edition because HMV overstocked them
Yeah, right.. The only collector's edition I've seen that wasn't available after launch was Crysis 2.
