Hard Rest is an old-school cyberpunk PC shooter, which generates some impressive visuals thanks to Fying Wild Hog's brand new engine - but you won't be seeing a console port down the line.
This actually looks really cool. I have never heard of Flying Wild Hog before, but the game looks promising, almost like a New Unreal Tournament. Will definately look for this and more gameplay, especially with the promise of not even considering console mechanics and graphics limitation. Here is the video, if people cannot be bothered using "Flowplaer Free Version" which NowGamer uses. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Flying Wild Hog was formed from members of People Can Fly (Painkiller), CD Projekt RED (The Witcher 2), and City Interactive (Sniper: Ghost Warrior).
I can't say I am a huge fan of The Witcher 2, but thanks for the info!
@NuclearDuke I heard about you but thought it was just a myth, you're the guy that does not like Witcher 2.
Hey now that looks impressive. I need to see some more footage
Game looks stellar, but the gameplay looks fairly generic so far :( @Perjoss - I liked Witcher 2, but find that I liked the first one a lot more for some reason.
The gameplay being fairly "generic" is a keypoint. Unreal Tournament is generic, Quake is generic. Being a plain and simple Sci-Fi shooter is a positive thing in my book.
Yea yea and watch it still be a average shooter like most now of days...pc only will just cut ur projects worth in half...Piracy FTL!
Piracy is definitely an issue but it's also an issue for consoles too.
Not really. Handhelds maybe, but it's not a very big issue for consoles, as the amount of people who hack their consoles to play games for free isn't very big.
They're an indie dev with a passion, they'll likely make enough to keep doing what they are passionate about, making games...
COD, Battlefield, Farcry & Crysis started out on PC and they did ok.
Stuff like this really makes you think how far back in technology we console owners are. Games like Uncharted 3 and Gears 3 lool good but thats as far as they go GRAPHICS. Uncharted enviorment should have free to explore maps because the art and ladscape is so breath taken. Gears multiplayer should at least 10 vs 10 with distructable enviorment. Infamous should have graphics and a living world that surpass GTA4 All of the games above should be running in 1080p
The Xbox360 and PS3 cannot render those type of effects with graphics like Uncharted 3 or Gears 3. There has to be trade offs... Either great graphics and linear game play with little to no interaction with the games surroundings OR Interactive environmental damage and larger maps with average graphics. Consoles at this stage cannot have it all. 1080p gaming with those features is especially not possible. @jdoki "However looking at the way new IP perform (on any platform), and looking at sales on PC in general, it's a risky strategy for a dev (especially a new one) to stick to one platform. I hope they don't go under after one title." Or they can follow the same format as DICE. Make the PC the lead platform and develop the game with all the bells and whistles these consoles do not have and then stream line it for the consoles. So it becomes multi-platform but the PC is the LEAD system that will take full advantage of its hardware without having it ported to the PC
A higher player count doesn't make a game better. Other factors at play.
and thats what the ps4 and xbox 3 will do ;D
yeah but when the next generation of consoles comes out they will be around $600 or more. It took a while for the PS3 to drop down in price.
***Stuff like this really makes you think how far back in technology we console owners are. *** Not really. I'm completely happy with the technology on my old consoles and on my PC. What I'm finding more and more is that this generation of consoles reached the point where I can honestly say that almost every other element of the game is much more important than putting out the best graphics.
Agreed. A game with average graphics but great art style is MUCH more important than a game with no artistic creativity with super high res textures.
I watched the trailer, there's way to much happening on screen. The devs are right. To have that game run on console there would have to be strips made.
Single Player, Good devs, no health regain, physics based, challenging = Day 1.. - http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Was really not expecting this type of gameplay when I first saw the debut trailer...but this is also good.
*Goes to pray at my PC Gaming shrine*
i 'LOOOOOOOOOLed' hard man thanks xD
I'm really impressed with the visuals from such a small developer. I'm excited. I've not played a game like this in a long time.
. I haven't heard this before...except for Witcher 2, Crysis 2, Metro 2033...etc... The pixel counters are running around like chickens without a head...as usual. Lets wait and see when the game sells 30,000 on PC and is pirated 500,000. :o It's coming out on consoles...it has to if it wants to be successful. It's a reality of the marketplace these days. btw...the game looks good, but nothing that can't be done on consoles. The sci-fi effects have all been done before and could be duplicated on a Wii, let alone the super-duper multi-threading consoles...If this game was a PC exclusive, the pixel counters would be saying the same thing... http://youtu.be/1hesKCOJ9mg Without the audio...Halo Reach...Yep, that good... http://youtu.be/q7E1XvZR3Nw
You don't know much about the indie scene on PC do you?
You'd be surprised what these small devs can do. Remember, Metro 2033 and the Witcher 2 both had relatively small budgets, and they're not only at the top of the heap graphically, but also solidly profitable (I know Metro was multi-plat, but PC is where it made most of it's money). It's people from those studios who are making this game, so I don't see why it can't do just fine of PC.
death2smoochie You played Infamous 2. http://www.youtube.com/watc... Damage+lighting. Crysis 2 Both look better then that game.
