Video Games: The Media’s Scapegoat

Have you heard that video games are to blame for everything these days? If you have acne or your best girl dumped you, it’s obviously caused by video games in some weird way. Actually the biggest rumor going right now is that the debt crisis in the United States was perpetuated by video games. In all seriousness it seems that video games are getting a lot of bad press recently. It’s almost like quicksand, one bad article or news story, then another and another and pretty soon everyone is piling on. It’s rather senseless and it really just goes to show how ignorant and wrong our media can be.

Nice article, I myself have been gaming for about 20 years now and have never felt the urge to do harm or kill anyone, unless you count those really annoying people you sometimes encounter online, but that's another story lol.

As for the media constantly pinning the woes of the world on games and gamers, We just seem to be the latest punching bag in a long history of punching bags, such as Rock music, Television, Mobile phones, The Internet and Facebook. The media is catering to ignorant people looking to blame something other than themselves and they couldn't care less that they're being lied too.
The problem there is ignorants breeds ignorants.
