Gematsu: "Earlier this week, Atlus said Catherine broke a company record in its first week of sales, but didn’t share numbers. Today, Atlus USA’s official Twitter has revealed the game sold over 200,000 copies in its first week."
More munnies for Atlus = more localizations for us
just goes to show that niche games can be a success if publishers set reasonable targets.
Awesome stuff. This game is great too.
I'm one of the 200,000 perverts :)
Me too although I bought it cause I enjoyed the demo and I like Anime.
I was intrigued as soon as I saw Vincent's cameo in Persona 3 Portable and of course after watching the initial trailers for the game.
Holy sheep! Good on ya, Atlus!
I see what you did there ;)
Worth baring in mind though that the Atlus fanbase is a hardcore one, and most of them will have purchased the game in its first week. Don't expect the game to have any sort of longevity in the charts.
this game got attention from outside the usual Atlus fanbase. word of mouth will keep it going for a bit. i just hope this success doesn't distract them from making Persona 5, it will supposedly use the same engine.
please, announce a release date of this in Europe already! I want to be a pervert too! :D :D :D :D :D
import it, i did and it cost me 15$ extra, but for me its worth it and better than waiting ~2 months.
I have Xbox360.. do you know is it Region free?
Unfortunately, the Xbox 360 Ver. is region locked, your only option is the PS3 version, sorry mate.
I bought Catherine and IMO its my goty so far this year. I beat it a few days ago. Love the story and the characters It looks like the ps3 version sold 200,000 in its first week because the cake has the ps3 version on it.
Or because they're a Japanese-based developer and would therefore obviously prefer the Playstation platform. Although, I'm sure Catherine has sold more on PS3 in the States...would like to see the numbers actually.
Its pretty much common sense the ps3 version sold more. You really don't need any proof to see. Majority of xbox owners don't care for these types of games
The game was very refreshing. I'm keeping an eye out for Atlus at TGS!
There's nothing "perverted" about Catherine. It's actually a very good story based game. I love Atlus for bringing this over. It reminds me of the days where single player story lines reigned supreme.
