Washington Post Writes: Sony’s next-generation portable game machine, the PlayStation Vita, won’t be going on sale in the U.S. or Europe in time for Christmas — a key sales time for game-console makers.
it come to the US but maybe if its not too different I will import.
Take your time Sony, give us something special. Don't rush it and then throw in thousands of "Add-ons". Hate that shit @ Quagmire below Have you seen the Vita? It's pretty damn slim you know.
You honestly dont expect there to be a PSV Slim? That would be a first from sony...
I agree, there is no rush. I want to see a strong line-up instead. The thing looks damn sexy and I want to know more of how it will interact with the Playstation 3 and how much developers adopt that link between the two devices.
No Me Gusta =(
I saw that coming from a mile away.
@SonyNGP - Everbody should of, Sony already said that Vita would be out in 1 region(expected to be Jap first) in 2011, and in all regions within the 2011 fiscal year(which ends March 2012). That was said at E3.
So did I. And I got a boatload of disagree's for it. But Vita doesn't fit into the western launch scheduel. I mean when you have: Gears of War 3, Forza 4, Battlefield 3, Zelda Skyward Sword, Mario Kart 7, Batman Arkham City, Skyrim, Rage, Uncharted 3, Twisted Metal, MGS HD Collection, Dark Souls and Modern Warfare 3 coming out between September and December, where does Vita fit in? It won't sell if Sony released it among all of that. So I'm glad they've announced a 2012 release date. Probably January-February. Means that many of us can buy all the great games coming out in Q4, play them, finish them and then save up some money over the holidays so we're ready for Vita to hit in the new year. I'm happy. Plus they did say many times that they aim to launch it in a phased nature between now and the end of the fiscal year.
in a way its good now i can enjoy uncharted and that for the rest of this year
you wouldve always been able to enjoy uncharted. and 'for the rest of the year'? youll beat it in 1 sitting. Hopefully this gives some devs the time so they dont rush their launch titles. Sony is pretty strict on deadlines, a good example is Socom confrontation and KZ3 - Both released 6 months too early.
I completely agree with what you said about KZ3 releasing too early. You could just tell that Sony rushed them to release it at the start of 2011, it would of made more sense if they released it now since there aren't any big releases on PS3 until next month when Resistance 3 releases.
Yeah, hopefully they will be readying a smart, strong marketing campaign as well. As cool as this device is, they will have forces they will have to overcome. I will have plenty to play on my PS3 and PC until this Vita is released. Hopefully the delay will ensure the device has the success it seems to deserve. Maybe I will pick up a 3DS in the mean time. Still crossing my fingers that the Vita will be available this year and the sooner the hardware comes to market, the more impressive it will seem. I have a feeling this thing is a BEAST by today's standards.
I already knew Spain would not get it until 2012. But hey even with a slight delay i am not going to rush in and buy a 3DS i shall wait patiently for the Vita since its more than worth its sticker price. Also i dont know why people think that Sony will drop the price of the Vita because of the 3DS. Sure the 3DS will be cheaper but most people still view the Vita and an excellent buy. Unlike the 3DS at its previous price point.
who cares, i will import ir from JAPAN!
. The official statement was something like this... " Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Vita launch will miss the 2011 holiday season in the US and Europe, with the new handheld instead arriving “early next year.” According to Sony VP Kazuo Hirai, only Japan will see the Vita arrive in time for Christmas, with the rest of the “phased global rollout” taking place in early 2012. Rather than a delay, Hirai said the scheduling was intended to give Sony time to prepare “solid” game offerings. "... ...SOoooo...the Japanese get it first because Sony needs time to prepare " solid " game offerings...what baloney. They are a Japanese company and as usual and the norm, are giving the Japanese preferential treatment...AGAIN. Some fanboys were giving me a hard time telling me how I had it all wrong and that we would see Vita this holiday as early as November...O_o...Sony wants to dump it's stock of PsP's this holiday on the poor, innocent Xmas shopping public thinking they are buying the latest gadget for family and friends only to find out they have been duped by the big JAPANESE company. I wonder what would happen if NA received the Vita for Xmas and Japan had to wait till 2012??? They would never do that, they would be tarred and feathered. Warn your friends and family about this scam. Wait for the PS Vita in the new year or just do what everyone else is doing...buy an Ipod. ;) Btw...spare me the PsP love story , I have a PsP 3000...no comment.
It's not a scam. They already announced it clearly at E3. Remember that Japan was hit by a tsunami earlier this year and many Sony factories were affected, that alone set them back a lot. I doubt they can even put out a lot of PSV in Japan let alone the rest of the world. Also, many of their launch titles are still in development. It would be wise to not rush them all.
You shouldnt have responsed to him since all he does is talks out his a$$. This launch is perfect for me since im getting so many games later this year, and I have to save up for the vita

No dis-respect dude but it is upto the consumer aswell to do alittle research when they buy a product, it is not a scam my friend.
I'm sure this has been confirmed since they pretty much announced the thing.
gutted im tempted to sell my ps3 to buy one , a ps3 in a handheld capable of plugging into main tv with hd graphics! i want dis mudda funker now!! never mind christmas!
PSV doesnt have a TV out option.
wtf!? sony if you read this , please put a option for hdmi output on it , i know there plan , they will release it without one , then a few months down the line, special edition with hdmi output , typical corporate snideyness.
Wouldn't a TV output defeat the purpose of the PSV to PS3 connectivity then?
as long as more games are announced for launch or after, it is all good.
kids wil be crying now whahahhahah
just like game makers doing supposedly full titles , then releasing map packs and extra weapons a few weeks later , they obviously all ready had , to make money via dlc, scum!
This is concerning. On one hand you have the chance for good launch line-up and hardware matured. On another hand, you have the loss of countless potential sales at Holiday season.... And on another hand you have hand shadow puppets on the wall making shapes of all the possible hardware failures of the next couple years.
Goddammit I may import
Looks like I may cancel my preorder. I am very tempted! Leave it to Sony to play the waiting game again! That is the exact reason that I quit using home! ;) Sony: "Oh we will release this feature for home in 2 months! We promise!" Six months later..... Sony: "Oops! We were wrong! Sorry, it will be 8 months!" lol, what a load of crap!
They cancelled it, because they want a solid-er launch then the 3DS... and they weren't going to get as many sold during a game FLOOD. Sometimes they DO try crap, but this time its a better move in the long run.
well lets wait until its "officially" announced because looking at the article they never quoted him as saying it wont be out until 2012. but they did quote him on saying there will be no price cut and they packed so much tech inside its a good value. I also find it hard to believe they would submit it to the fcc but wait at least 5 more months to release it. hopefully it does come out this year in the us/eu but oh well if it doesnt.
Not that I am interested in a hand held but man this feels like a big blow for Sony. 3DS their main "next gen" handheld competition has faltered out of the gate. They had a bad price point with little software. This now gives the 3DS more time to correct its wrongs...especially on the software side since they just addressed price.
