DICE dismisses yearly Battlefield releases, doesn't want to "rush" development

But what about an annual military shooter from EA.....Just because its under a different name doesn't mean its not the same situation. COD is developed every year by different developers. Expect MOH or a Battlefield (in some form) every year

Yeah, you can pretty much expect a Bad Company, Medal of Honor or Battlefield game from EA each year to at least compete with Call of Duty but you have to admit, Activision has sort of forced their hand in that regard. With Call of Duty being release every year, it continues to build an install base and it's hard moving people away from something they've grown accustomed to, even if your product is better. Anyone who thinks Medal of Honor wasn't rushed to compete with Modern Warfare 2 is delusional.

COD plays exactly the same every year. MoH and BF are different. Not to mention that BF and BFBC are different too.

MOH and BF and BFBC are all of different types of shooters. I'm assuming the battlefield would alternate with Bad Company to go with MOH, until a few years when they have a nicely polished game like BF2, BF3. I'd figure this is better for us, because we won't be bored, and there's always something to look forward too.

DICE makes Battlefield and the Battlefield: Bad Company series and others all under the name of Battlefield, Danger Close will be making the Medal of honors, so it will probably alternate between DICE and Danger Close, and will do very different things with their games.

IW and Treyarch each spend 2 years for every interation of their game and these studios focus exclusively on COD.

DICE is a single studio who have released a BF game near every year while also working on other projects such as MoH.

Since 2008 the year BFBC was released. IW has only released MW2 and MW3 will be out this year. Treyarch released WaW and Black Ops.

In that same time frame DICE has released BFBC, BFBC2, MoH (multiplayer portion), Mirrors Edge, BF1943, and collaborated on BF Heroes, BF free to play, need for speed shift 2, And are releasing BF3 this year.

So DICE and EA needs to stfu. COD clearly has longer development cycles with the entire studio focused on one game during that full time. BF is the series being rushed

You have 2 different devs making a game 2 years apart from each other, works out perfectly. Sledhammers version of COD should be EXTREME as they were the makers of the criminally underated and underselling Deadspace 1. Treyarch next COD will be phenomenal as well as Activision has given them all the resources they need. I hope to see 2, yep 2 COD next year...how great would that be. Halo should also be a twice a year launch.

Battlefield 3 is a mess which the beta will ( already has ) confirmed and MOH multi-player was also made by Dice as well so these guys have been technical around 2 years in a row. When did Battlefield 2 launch??? EXACTLY!!!...O_o...It's all BS for the delusional fanboys ^^^^^ who keep kissing EA A33 for giving them half a33 PC ports...yep, I said it. ;)

EA will no doubt have MOH next year and the fanboys will pat EA on the head as usual for making a crappy game like the last one.

Anyways, Dice has got this right, when they don't release a game yearly they can atleat take their time and make improvements upon the game's engine and features, that why they don't screw up and release patch after patch of updates that just makes the players suffer.

No you don't speak for everyone. Activision proofs they are doing it right. They show you each year that consumers are satisfied with each iteration that comes out. If they were not doing it right it wouldn't sell like it does. Consumers make or break a game. If the game was as broke as people claim and not as fun or rehash after rehash then it shouldn't continously be compared to other games that try and imitate the formula. I woundn't mind a new Battlefield with a new story each year. They can talk sh*t and claim it is rushing developement but BattleField has been a PC game for years and this whole comment about every year crap is simply talk. If they had the capability and saw the same draw and finacial benefit Activison DOES see, then you can bet your a** DICE and EA would be on it.

Only recently has it been milked. They got a different engine for Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 and from there, it's been more-less the same. ODST was pretty cool, and it came with Halo 3 multiplayer + all DLC but they do keep coming out with DLC and what should be 'expansions'. That's why people call Halo milked

EA already said they want a bi-yearly Battlefield game released. They want Battlefield, Medal Of Honor, Battlefield, Medal Of Honor. It's the same strategy as Call Of Duty, just both developers call their game Call Of Duty. Battlefield and MoH will both have the same dev time as COD.

Not sure why people act like it's the same developer every year for COD. This November will see the 3rd Modern Warfare game since 2007. This year also see's the third Battlefield and Uncharted games in the same amount of time. Hell Assassins Creed is releasing the 4th game in that series in less time!

Why do people bust COD's balls and not the other developers? EA is a terrible company and one day they'll screw over a franchise you might like....Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Dead Space??? They are already all going down hill thanks to EA and don't get me started on their sports games...

The difference being that there are two different shooters coming out from separate developers.

COD has two (main) studios working on the same game, and add developers to the MW series to get it out faster.

I think the difference is that EA doesn't have the leverage to force DICE into doing something like that, whereas the COD studios are more or less slaves under Activision.

let's be clear that DICE Also has Mirror's Edge to develop as a break from BF, what does IW have? Just COD, and that's all IW will be known for, while DICE will be ahead in the future because they were smart and didn't destroy their own franchise.
