The Battlefield 3 alpha (PC version) gets benchmarked and tested.
Ouch, dual core users are taking the old path of the single core CPU, forced upgrading or terrible performance, even with high-end gpu. Good thing i put money into an i7 when i did, wont be upgrading for awhile still. I'd be pissed having to build a new system just so BF3 runs.
With you on that, nearly opted for a Q6600, Q9850 or E8600. Decided to wait and ended up with an i7 at very nice pricing. Been more than satisfied since :)
It's nice to have some concrete evidence that those idiots who thought BF3 could be run at 500FPS were just that, idiots.
That 500FPS screenshot was with minimum settings. Anyway good to see these benchmarks, makes it a lot clearer. With my RIG I'm possible looking between 65-80FPS on maximum quality settings 1920×1080 DirectX 11 depending on scaling of course.
Looks like I'll be maxing it pretty much out then :)
Nice video. I hope there is a lot of variance in the maps. Some tighter ones like Oasis, and some massive ones like Heavy Metal. The main thing is the big maps need more checkpoints/flags. So you don't get bored walking.
The scale of the maps is going to be the deciding factor on making this game stand out from CoD.
Not necessarily the 'deciding' factor, but still a factor. The scale has always been there, confident this game won't differ
So i'm basically fucked with an E8400..
Pretty much. No love for the dual cores.
Guess I should start saving up for a new processor.. I have to change half of my computer then -.-
well hell you can get a 3.0gig amd quad for 100 bucks
Wait till Bulldozer, if its not delayed it should be out in September meaning the prices of AMDs current CPUs will come down and maybe Intel CPUs to.
Allright, thanks for the advice :)
You might be able to get hold of a 775 quad core and not need to change anything else.
Dude go pickup a C2Q off of ebay for <80 bucks, OC it to 3.5-4.0Ghz should be even cheaper these days. No need for DDR3, new board to do this. The extra threads are all that matters, it'll be the bigger difference and save a hell of alot of cash.
Allright, I might just do that if I find a Q9XXX series processor for an affordable price. So far none of the sellers ships worldwide, and since I'm from a relatively small Balkan country.. Well, you get the idea.. I don't want to buy a new Q9XXX processor for as much as 400$..
Crappiest benchmark I've seen. They list a ton of cards but only do a fraction of them, and half of the screens are in Russian.
still stuck with a 8400 gt PCI-E powered gpu for BF3 eh?
No actually I have a GTX 570 but thanks?
Wow very close to BC2 performance, impressive.
Using alot of threads to do this too, like seeing PC games being truly optimized.
GTX 580 getting a MINIMUM of 55FPS and averaging 74FPS at DX11 max and 1080P? That Is Fucking Sweet.
lol hmmmmm .... sooooo my 2 x gtx 580's in sli will eat this game for breakfast :D
I'm not sure about this but maybe someone can answer.. Are the max settings in the alpha build going to be max in BF3? Or are they lower than max, and also other settings are missing?
Did anyone run this game with a gtx 570 i need to know what fps i will get
During the Alpha I was running at really good FPS with settings on high, my spec: i5 3.33Ghz 4GB RAM GTX460 @1080p The game seems optimised well. What I hated was the awful contrast and bloom (HDR) in the game, shadows were pitch black and lights were brighter than bright, even out doors you couldn;t see people in the shade, it made is extreamly difficult to spot players, with the crazy high contrast fot that "hollywood effect" and all the bells and whistles that come with new games, HDR, motion blur etc everything was just a mess, too busy outdoors. Indoors was much better, hopefully they'll sport it out for release.
From what I heard, that difference in lighting is intended. In real life, if you are outside and are looking into a room that is dim or not lite, it will appear black. And when you are in that dim, dark room and see windows outside, it will be washed out and hard to see. This is purely HDR at work. They also want to have these dark areas where the supoprt class can equip a flashlight and blind people with the sudden change in brightness and glare.
Into a dim room maybe, but under the shade of a tree there should be enough light to see
Yes I would agree, but when your outside and someone is stood in the shade of a tree they shouldn't be pitch black.
