EA recently praised the iPad as being the fastest-growing gaming platform. To players of the ‘old-generation’ systems, such as the Nintendo SNES and PlayStation, this news may come as a bit of a surprise. Aren’t Nintendo and PlayStation working on new consoles? And don’t these consoles have the potential to blow the iPad out of the water? That may be. But for now, many game developers, most notably EA, are throwing their support behind tablet devices, and for good reason. With profits from mobile gaming expected to reach $16 billion by 2015, it is clear that games for tablets are a pretty safe investment, at least for the near future.
