Square Enix Nabs Rights To True Crime: Hong Kong From Activision

Gamasutra: Square Enix has picked up the rights to United Front Games' True Crime: Hong Kong, which was cancelled earlier this year by original publisher Activision.

i was crushed when i heard it was canned but i had a feeling someone would pick it back up. i mean, it was almost done

That was back in the days when I use to just buy any game anyone said was like GTA! I was a casual gamer and bought many-a-crappy game. It wasn't until I decided I wasn't gonna lose any more money that I realized the best of gaming and started really gaming... playing all the good games can do that to you!

Eidos/Square Enix only published Batman. Rocksteady did the developing. Also, by the time Square Enix bought Eidos, Batman was already released. We don't need Square Enix destroying a masterpiece called Arkham Asylum.

NaughtyDog please buy the rights of Crash Bandicoot back off these arseholes who ruined him. They should go for Spyro aswell, I know it wasn't made by them but insomniac games will never buy it back even if they had the chance to

Yep i looked it up boby kotick and his investment firm took over activision in 1997 about the same time the spyro series went to hell lol. Hes killed 3 IP's. He killed tony hawk, he killed guitar hero, and he killed spyro. And spyro was huge back in the day.

"While the game was originally under development for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, and due out this November, Singleton tells Gamasutra that "We're not talking about release timings or formats at this time."

Square Enix has not picked up the True Crime IP. Says Singleton, "It's too early to say what the name will be." that's pretty cool that they gave this game another chance and by all accounts it was nearly finished before it was cancelled.

also shrewd business be SE for buying Eidos they have kept them afloat with all their excellent titles being released.

But.......True crime Hong Kong didn't look so well last time i saw it especially when you compare it to GTAIV.

SE better put their best team on it, go buy some Devs from Rockstar, and really put some effort into True Crime or they will just be wasting cash.
