ETC Retro Review - Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

ETC: Are you tired of juiced up, armored space marines fighting aliens? Do packs of zombies and post-apocalyptic landscapes no longer arouse your senses? Are you sick of little kids wearing green and women with boobs so big they shouldn’t be able to stand up straight?

Do you pine for a simpler time when a vampire-turned-wraith harvested souls to keep himself (somewhat) alive? While also gliding through the material and spectral realms by using wings that his boss ripped the bones out of? All while killing dozens of vampires in classic (sunlight, water, fire, stake through the heart) and not so classic (glowing blade fused with his arm that can take on elemental powers) styles to quench his thirst for vengeance?

If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions (especially the last one) come join me on a trip down memory lane and into the land of Nosgoth to chat about Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.

The story is too old to be commented.

I'm actually replaying this on the PSP, and falling in love with it all over again. =)

It freaks me out that Soul Reaver is considered retro. I remember the day it was released on PSone. How time flies.

LoK was such an amazing series though. If only someone would revive it. It's just a shame Amy Hennig would no longer be at the helm because she's a big part of what made the series so amazing.

I wish Amy Hennig had an opportunity to make another game. Can you imagine Kain/Soul Reaver running on the Naughty Dog engine?!? That would be something else.

I loved this series. It's a classic in my view.

Could you imagine it with Uncharted-style platforming and cutscenes?

Uggghhhh it makes me so mad it will never happen. D:

One of my top 10 games of all time. The later games started to fail much like sequels to movies. But that original Soul Reaver was so full of awesome.

They need to make a HD version of ALL those games!
