Videogames are Getting Smarter as Innovation Pushes the Industry Forward

PlanetXbox360: "No lie; the original title of this editorial was “Videogames are Getting Dumber.” I was looking at my game library wanting to play something that wasn’t a shooter. As I searched through my alphabetically sorted collection, I saw Army of Two, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Gears of War, etc. Sometimes when you think about the dominance that the shooter genre has in the video game industry, it can become frustrating. Games have gotten far easier and are more mindless only some very rare games like Portal actually make you use your brain.

Back in the day you had to use more of your brain to figure out things in a game, take Half Life 2 for example that needed some brain power in certain areas to figure out how to go to the next bit.

But nowadays games are just very simplified and basic as developers seem to be catering for the younger generation who do not come from the days of the Spectrum or Atari and even the Commodore 64!
