Blaming the PS3 and Xbox 360 for health problems

Product-Reviews writes: How will the public react when someone gets ill or dies when playing the Xbox 360? As a gamer, the expectation will be that people start pointing a finger at the Xbox 360 or PS3, which wouldn't be the first time.

Sitting playing games for more than 12 hours a day on most days will not be good for health, but how many of you play this long? Would it be right in thinking a newspaper will want to sell more copies or more viewers are gained on a news channel by headlines like "Gamer dies on Xbox 360", the answer is pretty obvious. How does this make the gamers at large feel, are you worried about your health due to gaming too much?

It's not the consoles fault, it's the user. If they don't have the self-control or motivation to go outside, exercise and socialize then they can only blame themselves for their own health problems.

Same with parents who blame consoles. if you're letting your child sit in the house all day playing the console then you can only blame yourself for not putting you're foot down and stopping it and maybe they shouldn't have children in the first place.

Totally agree..

If the user don't got external motivation and self-control it doesn't matter if he got a console or not.

Hell I've done three 24 hour long charities this year that required 24 gaming. It's called get off your ass at times and take quick break, grab a bite, have someone else take a turn if friends are over. After a short while come back sit back on your ass and keep playing.

Honestly parents or people who blame the console most likely have failed someone in the past and they need to point fingers. I agree with you 100% Wizziokid!

This is getting out of hand with all the negative publicity in the world about people dieing from just playing a video game. For God sake Blame it on the cat, Blame it on the lack of intelligence, Blame on the your mother not cooking you a healthy meal every day. But don't blame on Video games.

Throw PC on there too. It gets blamed for multiple deaths. Adults and especially kids need to have a more active lifestyle. When I was a kid I was running around playing guns in the woods and playing manhunt (40 vs. 40 tag game) on the Air Force base. Kids are pathetically less active today. Gaming is a contributor to that but not the sole cause. Parents need to buckle down on their children, but some of them need to help themselves first.

"Playing games on an Xbox 360 or PS3 is fun, but they are not without their health risks."

How can a box of plastic, silicon, copper and other materials have any damn health risks at all? Unless maybe... it's falling from a height or something, or it's a fire hazzard.
