An online retailer is currently discounting the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the upcoming first-person shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 by 20%.
Now I have to get it...
And I thought I was only going to buy Battlefield 3. So much for this being the first year I don't get COD.
It's a twelve dollar discount.
I have been waiting for that $20 credit (with no taxes) at amazon. Come on amazon, do it! Put some pressure on Activision, EA! We need a price war!
@Gamingdroid, I too thought this, but it's actually Activision that controls the promotion.. Amazon has nothing to do with it.. -(just like they don't pick your bonus -which right now is a wallpaper for pre-ordering MW3) Someone is the forums on the Amazon.com comments section explained this, he said he called to ask why they have not done the 20 credit, and they informed him that the bonus on Games is decided by the publisher / Not Amazon, so the 10 dollar credit or discount is made by the publisher (who is really just taking less on the game for pre-orders to get the buzz rolling) but given through amazon as a $10 or $20 discount to be used on Amazon. But in the end it's the game company that decided to let the pre-orders go for a discount hope this helps clear up how this actually works... So when Newegg is giving the game for 47.99 for pre-order this is a deal the publisher has worked out for Newegg pre-orders.. They (publishers) have agreed to let pre-orders go for a little less discount.. (most likely to help boost sales and get a feel of how well the game is going to do) Does not hurt them Since most people will not pre-order anyway. So this helps get a good amount out in pre-order and then when people see their friends playing it, they go buy it but at Retail price-because once the game comes out all bonus deals are done. .____........___...____ .____||......||.......____|| ||.........___||.......____||
Thanks. I figured as much, that's why EA needs to put pressure on Activision since amazon.com's profit is probably small. Those credits are great for the etailer since it bolsters sale and guarantees future business. The credit from Activision to amazon.com is likely less than $20 when amazon.com offers it to the consumer. I might just pre-order to lock in the pre-order exclusive from amazon.com. CoD always has a $20 credit as you get closer.... besides I can always cancel if I enjoy Gears 3 too much.
If Amazon does the 20 dollar credit price or price match newegg I will bite. This is the only reason I would pick this game up. Right now I am at a loss for a shooter. With Socom 4 being anything but Socom, and KZ3 not meeting my needs I will look to Battlefield 3/Resistance3/Uncharted 3 and if the price is right Mod Warfare 3.
"20% discount when you preorder" translation: 20% more BS we're gonna bring out (i.e. DLC pricing) they must be feeling the heat from BF3. Whats EA gonna do in response to this? Free DLC for life on BF3 if you preorder? I'll take that option :) (note, they didnt say that, Im fantasizing) Agree or Disagree if you Agree
CoD fans, don't bother posting, as you will simply be shot down by the BF fans :/ Good deal however. Theres something about IW's CoD's I rather like. I will wait to see MP until I pre order. I don't want to get scammed like I did with BO >=(
Except this isn't IW's CoD this is Sledgehammer's and the less talented IW dev's Cod. I believe a lot of the Map designers along with a bunch of lead dev's went to Respawn.
With that in mind, I'll wait for MP footage, like I said.
Haha, if I preorder from there, does it charge me now or when it ships?
Interesting... Might cancel my amazon pre order. Though, I imagine they'll have it down to about 35 quid before the release and I'll get that price because of the amazon pre-order best price thingy.
Tesco and Asda always make CoD's cheap(er than most) on release for competition. If that means anything ;D
I bought black ops from tesco last year. Was like £40 so...
Well, the place you should check out for is Sainsbury. Their popular for the £25 on release thing for COD. It sells very, very fast as usual. ASDA do it. Dunno about Tesco.
The only game I buy from Gamestop because I do midnight launch
Do they give you anything or is anything special going on? ... or is it just a bunch of guys hanging out at midnight. :D
some places buy you pizza and stuff for waiting in line...i stopped doing midnight buys ever since i found a "mom and pop" store that tends to have games 2 days sometimes a week early...i know they had modern warfare 2 a week early.
No they don't give us anything but that is not why I go to midnight launch. I have 2 brothers that live in different states and its a tradition where we all get it at midnight and take the next day off of work.
I never really pre-order games but this is a must-buy anyway so how can you pass up 20% off?
