The transition from Melee to Brawl was an incredible one for some gamers. The new game featured updated visuals, a greater arsenal of characters, stages, weapons and modes, and brought the series online for the first time. It was a match made in heaven, and nothing could go wrong. As players unlocked character after character, a sad, daunting feeling crept over. Every character from Melee did not make it into Brawl. To be specific, Dr. Mario, Roy, Pichu and Mewtwo were nowhere to be found.
As we move into the next generation, we can only anticipate the next iretaton of Smash Bros. As details begin to pour in, we can only hope for the return of these forgotten, lost characters. But, which of these characters are more deserving to make a return?
The Verge Writes: "Nintendo is giving its OLED Switch a Smash Bros.-themed paint job. The latest version of the console comes as part of a new bundle with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and includes gray Joy-Cons that feature the game’s logo."
Masahiro Sakurai, the director of Super Smash Bros., explains why he believes online play isn't a good fit for the series.
I feel bad for Smash fans. Those guys have been trying to maintain the scene active for 20+ years and get nothing but hate from Nintendo.
Sakurai explains how he and Nintendo still don't understand how the internet works.
FTFY
I’m sorry, but if a game is MP then there’s no f*cking argument that can justify no online MP. What he says about competition being different from just playing with friends shows me how out of touch these people are.
It’s not until a new generation that understands things steps in to clean-house that we’ll see some evolution here.
It's a big fighting game so online multiplayer is a must. Competitive smash is the only thing I see fun in these games anymore asides from the big character reveals, singleplayer is laughable and you ain't gunna have people over for couch gaming much.
If Nintendo makes a new smash, it needs a huge evolution for singleplayer/couch play to be enjoyable for me any more. But we all know they'll just do a deluxe edition for their next console lol. They really need to up their servers as well.
he sounds more like is trying to justify Nintendo ineptitude to create a proper network infrastructure in order to Smash Brothers work properly online.
NetherRealm confirms its Mortal Kombat franchise has sold over 80 million copies in the last 30 years, and here's how it competes against other fighters.
Don't care what anyone says, Smash isn't a traditional fighting game. May as well call Powerstone and Playstation All Stars fighting games. They're more of an arena fighter /party game.
Including Smash Bros in a list of fighting games, is like including GTA in Racing games.
Replacing Mewtwo with Lucario was one of the many reason Brawl was not as good as Melee.
(when mario pulled off that insane fireball special)
I thought the rest of the cast would have something insane as well. but unfortunately it didnt happen like that.
SSBB wasn't as good as Melee because they changed the feel of the gameplay and they took away the competitiveness and made it a free for all full of one hit kill items allowing anyone closest to the items to win.
I think they updated the physics for the game, giving weight to characters which is realistic, but it sucks when it drastically changes gameplay like jumping, movement speed etc.
Also Mewtwo was nerfed in Melee. He's to light yet weighs over 200 lbs., and his attacks should do more damage. Other than that though he should definitely make a return. Confusion + Shadow Ball = ownage
Brawl+ is better then all!
Seriously the mods are amazing!
