"The game scored a very respectable 8/10, with minor things dragging the score down (immersion-breaking NPCs and ham-fisted boss fights were cited). From what we can see, no mention was made of any particular PS3-specific faults; the distance between the OPM and PC Gamer scores looks more likely to just be personal preference rather than platform discrepancies."

So it's deprived PC gamers ( I am one ) scoring the game high because we have seen no quality releases lately while PS3 Mag has had games like L.A Noire and Infamous 2 in the last couple of months.

ddkshah2329d ago

The witcher 2 would like to differ ;)

Echo3072329d ago

A little bit surprising it's getting such high scores. A lot of people came away from E3 saying it was pretty rough.

Glad to see they shaped it up.

Abriael2329d ago

Or it's an official platform magazine scoring a multiplat down. Business as usual.

starchild2329d ago

Well, you know they gotta save the highest scores for PS3 exclusives like Uncharted 3. Wouldn't want a mere multiplatform game competing with those exclusives for goty.

Based on everything I have seen and the comments of friends who have played the leaked preview code I strongly believe that Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be one of the best games of the year.

BitbyDeath2329d ago (Edited 2329d ago )

@starchild, or maybe it is just not 10 worthy? Personally i'm thinking either ES:Skyrim or Uncharted 3 will get GOTY. Will be a tough choice, but either of those games look to be very well deserving of the award.

OPM 8
OXM 10

I guess Future's 360 review forgave what the PS3 review gigged it on. Either way I may or may not get it day one, we'll see

Did they just decide to ignore the 'long loading times' complaint?

Raf1k12329d ago

I don't know about you but I personally think most console games have long loading times. So if it's got long loading times on console then that must be a pretty long time to wait.

Septic2330d ago

This doesn't sully my hopes for the game.

Let's see some more reviews

HaHa_Ostrich2329d ago

There seems to be nothing particularly wrong or broken about it. And thats enough for me.

turgore2329d ago

8/10 seems somewhat low, but on gamespot both Deus Ex's scored in the 8's.

Godchild10202329d ago (Edited 2329d ago )

How is an 8 low? I think the 8 is a comfortable spot but I would have liked a 9. I can live with an 8, I was planning on buying it day one without hearing anything from reviewers.

You guys need to think about what is considered as a low score and what doesn't.

snipes1012329d ago

I like how in depth we're going in the analysis of a number assigned to a game such as Deus Ex. Who cares it's being called good/great/awesome those words alone should be enough to warrant a purchase.

Plus the difference between 9 and 8 is minuscule.

showtimefolks2329d ago

8 means a must buy but people act like 8 is a rent or pass

rent a game if you are undecided don't just let a score be the deciding factor

PirateThom2329d ago

It's an odd situation. I'd say 7+ used to be games that were definitely worth checking out, but reviewers and everyone else seem to have made it that 9+ is the only acceptable score or a game is garbage.

Even look at the rankings for Metacritic and the cut off points for "yellow" and "green" for movies and music against games.

HardCover2329d ago

The numbers have never mattered nearly as much as the review itself. The fact that we're prioritizing the number nowadays is, to me, a clear sign that the amount of thought people put into their opinion of a game has dropped severely.

I think it has a lot to do with the internet.

A descent review and still more to come . Hopefully my expectations for this game will be meet .
