Nintendo Alienates Their Biggest Fans: 5 Nintendo Games that May Never Be Released

"This year's lineup of games for Nintendo's systems are running a bit thin. Sure, we've got The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and a few 3DS games to look forward to, but the number of games that are targeting the experienced gamer crowd are dwindling in numbers year after year.

That doesn't mean that these core games don't exist however. There are numerous hardcore RPGs and action games that are have been released in Japan, but Nintendo of America has no interest to localize them to the United States." (Nintendo, Wii)

They need to ditch all the crap and start catering to the hardcore with the 3DS. More RPGs!!! I know the DS was pretty good for RPGS but I think with the potential the 3DS has, there could be so many more.

Agreed. The article is pretty much poop.

What a ridiculous article. Of course those games will never make it stateside - Nintendo knows full well that they'd never recoup their costs. Every one of those titles would be appreciated by a niche market only.

Honestly, this has nothing to do with alienating fans, it has more to do with the tastes of American gamers and the fact that these titles, while I would personally like to see them, would fare poorly in the American marketplace.

4,3,2 are legitimate reasons ... Don't you think that a game from the creator of final fantasy or lost odissey would be hard to market or sell ?

And the simple fact that xenoblade is coming in europe is proof enough that part of nintendo know that it can sell

Honestly, no, I don't think it would be something that would sell easily. Especially in the United States where first person shooters are king. Yes, we're talking "big names" in the RPG world, but again - I don't think the overall interest level is there anymore. It's not a dead market, per se, but I just don't think that the American market could sustain enough sales for these games to remain profitable enough to have a reasonable rate of return.

And yes, I'd kill for some of those games to be localized - which is where a company like Atlus might want to look into them, as niche markets tend to be more their thing.

Agree with the blogger. I mean Xenoblade and Last Story were literally the ONLY reasons I bought a Wii. I guess shame on me for thinking that Nintendo would do the right thing and bring these stateside.

"Nintendo Alienates Their Biggest Fans: 5 Nintendo Games that May Never Be Released" 3 of those games Pandora's Tower, The Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles are slated for a EU release, why can't they get released i America?
