Capcom has issued a statement concerning a retail release of the two HD Resident Evil titles.
... Capcom just wants to be greedy greedy greedy.
Yup, they want to price them as high as possible individually. Anythg over $15 each is an absolute joke.
I did myself a favor and bought a $5 USED copy of Code Veronica for PS2. Take that Capcom!
Um, what do you mean Capcom is doing this to be greedy? The physical copy over in Japan is basically going to cost $50 after exchange rates are taken into account and in USA its going to be $40 total saving the consumer $10 or if the consumer doesn't want both products it will save him/her $30. Seriously, I think you guys are just giving into the recent trend of Capcom bashing and not being open minded about this.
but i was really hoping for move support so as long as its under 15 i am all for it otherwise there will be enough HD remakes and other great sequels to keep me busy fall 2011 there is no shortage of games
(@Capcom) OBJECTION! I find a flaw in your statement Capcom. You blamed the Japan Tsunamiquake disatser as a reason you coudnt bring Ultimate MvC3 as DLC, yet here you are presenting digital games as opposed to Retail, for the alleged "reasoning" which is to pass the savings on to your fans/consumers? Thats the world's biggets contradiction if I ever witnesses one, isnt that right Edgeworth?
That didn't stop God of War 1 and 2 to be priced at 40 dollars...and me thinks Ico's game would follow the same price, so why couldn't you Capcom?
I don't get the big deal. Instead of having to pay $40+ you can only pay $20 and get one title. I have no interest in Code Veronica, so by Capcom going this route, they're saving me money.
The thing is, there is no reason they can't go both routes. If there was a disc version, I could get both games for less than $40 if I look for a sale. Plus, some people just prefer a disc. And the God of War, Origins, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Sly, and Ico collections suggest Capcom's explanation is a load of crap. Hell, some of those collections contain three games. And Konami is doing three games for $50 with the MGS collection. There is no reason Capcom can't do two for $40 on disc.
So your okay with them lying to the gaming population and potential allowing more room for cruption from publisher - to gamer relationship because you one are okay...you'll feel this come around and bite you in the arse if this is followed often which publishers will cause people will still support this
@dangert12 Capcom never lied. They announced an HD collection, they never said for retail release. Beyond Good & Evil got a HD remake and was released as a downloadable title, no one bitched then. Like I said, of course I'm okay with it because it benefits me. I don't want Code Veronica, so by not having to purchase them together I'm saving money. It's an HD remake FFS, it's not like the next RE game is only digital. Nothing good comes out of any announcements anymore because everyone has to find a reason to bitch. This entire generation has been nothing but bitchy kids who make a fuss over everything. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Here's my problem with companies like Capcom and Nintendo...this is the 4th rendition of the game being release... Instead of dealing with more new IPs, it's getting to the point of companies "re-releasing" games in HD, and yet people can just turn around and buy the games for, more than often, 50% less than what they debut at.
Radphil Actually it's RE4's 5th iteration of the game: gamecube, PS2, PC, Wii, and now an HD remake and all in 5 1/2 short years. What's even worse is each release of this game has been seperated for the other releases.
looks like i wont be buying them and will have to make do with the wii version and ps2 version of code veronica
As much as I love Capcom and Resident Evil they are really greedy when it comes to cash. It's all about the money, money, money. We just need your money, money, money, it's all about your cash mann, nothing but your cash mannn
they should release an HD collection of every resident evil game for $19.99 anything is a rip off.
it's the same price as the god of war collections and ico/shadow of the colossus so not a big deal....it's good for me since i only want RE4 and won't have to pay for the other one. would have been killer at 15 or less though.
"To pass the savings onto you guys we're featuring them on XBL GonD and PSN." I'll do myself the favor and wait until the PS4 version of the game comes out....Thanx though :)
Another reason to avoid used game sales. Hey, look at that! It's another Resdient Evil game(s) to tackle that particular issue. What are the odds of that?
So, what about the EU release? retail copies here please?
The reason: It doesn't fucking need one. Me and my friends prayed that this would get a digital release. Why? because these games are old as hell and need to be available for download. More games from last gen, whether updated visually or not, need to be on XBLA and PSN. A lot of companies don't do it which begs the question "what year is this?"
Why not do both? They put the file up on the server and bam they are done. Release a few hundred thousand or just sell it thru amazon for people like me who would prefer the disc so if at a later date I want to get rid of it, or let someone borrow it I can without having to give out my info. All games should be on the psn/xbox store before they hit shelves. It requires no shipping, no packaging, and it should be cheaper. Why would you want to pay the same amount for a digital item, when you have something physical that you could resell in the future.
"It requires no shipping, no packaging, and it should be cheaper" inFamous 2 says hi £50 for a digital copy, ridiculous, DD is crap (for now).
totally agree. which is why I am not down with digital only media. we still get ripped off when they find ways to cut costs. I remember when games actually had instruction manuals that would give you a story, characters, hints, and directions how to play. Now you might get a piece of paper with an ad for another game. A 2 page manual with the label on the front, the seizure warning, a picture of the hud, and the developers credits.
CAPCOM is following the footsteps of ACTIVISION for being stupid!!.. they are all @#$%^
I don't have a problem downloading them. What's the big deal? There's so many cry babies this gen. You can't always get what you want in life. At least they are bringing them in HD so you can play them. If you not happy don't buy them simple as that.
Let me guess, because of the Earthquake?
Not in Europe either? Either way I'm not buying these as a download. Disc or nothing Capcom...
ive noticed that a lot of peeps here keep referring back to GOW:collection. if anyone has noticed, you can get both of the psn store for 30. still cheaper than crapcoms 20 each.
