Sony Developer Reveals Canceled Games on LinkedIn

While Sony’s first party studios have provided an unprecedented amount of games for the PlayStation 3 – and to a lesser extent the PSP – it’s a sad fact that some games are canceled and never released. Sometimes the cancellation is openly announced, such as with The Getaway and Eight Days, but generally the cancellation is done behind closed doors, with the general public never knowing that the title ever existed. Luckily, if you’re interested in having a look at some of the games that never had a chance to shine, then you’ll love what PSLS have found.

Hand of God sounds like it coulda been awesome

A game titled "Hand of God" sounds like it could have been awesome?

Oh jeez.

stormeagle62307d ago

Well, God Hand was awesome.

metsgaming2307d ago

the one called hand of god seem like an RTS or RPG, i wonder what the high rise one was all about? Maybe a mirrors edge clone?

Wenis2307d ago

You'd be surprised how many games get cancelled. Most games never even make it past the 'prototype' stage, whether its because the game is no longer feasible to make or they just can't get enough funding for it which is sad :(. but thats the world of business i guess.

theonlylolking2307d ago

Just the title name would cause a controversy so that might be why it has been canceled.

SilentNegotiator2306d ago (Edited 2306d ago )

yeah, it makes you wonder how far along these games were. Were they still in the pre-production phases, were some gameplay and/or video made for it, did they write a script, etc?

All of those games are unimportant, unknown, and would have probably sucked. I was baited into that title like a fish...

HardCover2306d ago (Edited 2306d ago )

Cancelled games being bad?

Who could have guessed?

Sevir042307d ago

if these 2 PS3 games are unannounced and currently in development then thats awesome!

golsilva2307d ago (Edited 2307d ago )

Is it two separate ps3 projects or just two separate jobs for the same project in the last paragraph?

"On top of the canceled games, Johnson’s profile reveals – rather unsurprisingly – that Santa Monica are working on unannounced PS3 projects:

(unannounced title) – PS3 – Sound Designer
(unannounced title) – PS3 – additional sound design"

I think the rumor is already going on that gow4 is in the works and i definitely saw a job listing for a person with online gameplay experience for santa monica. So either gow4 will have mp or its an entirely different game altogether.

blumatt2307d ago (Edited 2307d ago )

A God of War horde type mode with co-op where you and a couple buddies fight endless waves of enemies would be pretty cool.

theunleashed642307d ago

santa monica has been posting up job applications for people with experience in "FPS/TPS's, open world, vehicle combat," on gamasutra. other than that there's nothing to go off but speculate one of their new projects is a new game altogether.

rbluetank2307d ago

I want a new poker game... please sony make a new one.

stormeagle62307d ago

I wonder what the ratio is of completed games to cancelled games.

dbjj120882307d ago

As someone above already said, some of these mightn't have been canceled yet, just unannounced!
