Siliconera writes, "Pokémon Black/White director, Junichi Masuda, attended this year’s E3 and posted a few pictures of the things he took note of on his blog."
Violence is in human nature and since the law is against it we satisfy our needs by killing things virtually.
True, that's why games like that are popular and dominate E3 usually. I find it a bit ironic that the director of a game witch involves beating the hell of pets for the money and the glory of having the best pokemon (not dissimilar to dog fighting) is saying this.
Looks like people are actually gonna take that comment seriously :(
It's also part of human nature to stop violence. Don't be an idiot.
Fitting username for such a comment...oh wait.
Anyone who doesnt think that violence is in our nature needs to look at things like pro sports and most of our entertainment.
American games are about graphics, guts, gore, and a good storyline. Japanese games are about gender confused little boys/girls trying to defeat the *bad guy*, by complaining in whiny little voices in 45 minute cutscenes. If Japanese developers followed some tips from Kojima, then maybe they would start producing some good games.
LMAO, sorry your comment made me laugh.
I'm sorry that I can't take games that have men looking and sounding like women seriously. This is why Metal Gear Solid is the best Japanese made game ever, because you can tell the difference between males and females.
american games and good story.....like 5% of them maybe you sir need to open your closed mind and maybe you will see there is more than dude bros acting like terrorists or drug dealers
This man speaks the TRUTH.
You know thats funny because most people whatch animes and mangas in Japanese to avoid the little whiny girly voices of the english dubbed versions. And please give me names of these so called games from respectable companies.
This is in Japanese, the voices just sound hilarious. Another thing I hate about anime is the ridiculous art style in which everything is frozen in the background and the characters bounce around the screen like a kid diagnosed with ADD without his ritalin.
“Majority of the games look like a same game,” Masuda noted. “There were little of original games. I felt a sense of crisis with above part.” was he talking about fps' or pokemon? lol i kid i kid
Almost all the pokemon games have the EXACT same plot. Start off in small town with a rival who is the professors niece/nephew pick starter pokemon do battle with rival, leave. Fight all gym leaders get legendary pokemon of your version. Rinse and repeat.
Pokemon is only one franchise, he said "majority" meaning many games coming from different developers all seem to look the same, he didn't say "one franchise" looks the same. I'm no Pokemon fan but you people seriously need to learn how to read.
i guess you missed the part where i wrote "i kid i kid"...so who needs to learn how to read again?
I agree. What a hypocrite. I bet I could name 5 games without killing in it. Journey, Sly Cooper 4, Pixel Jink Lifelike, Sound Shapes and Lil Deviants. And I am sure I could name 5 more
Boo Who, welcome to the video game industry.
I don't mean to sound like a prick, but I think you misspelled "boohoo".
Thanks, not every day i write "boohoo". Anyways there's been killing in games since the beginning of time. With graphics the way they are and only getting better expect violence to get a whole lot more....graphic. Maybe if nintendo would have shown a new Mario Kart or Starfox it would have been different.
"Boo Who, welcome to the video game industry." And...that makes it ok?
Yes it does. Why do you ask? @nopunctuation Aaaaaaw, i'll give ya an agree :)
Just saying imo that it's better at times to stray away from the norm.
""Boo Who, welcome to the video game industry." And...that makes it ok?" Yeah seriously. I wish I had a cute avatar so i could blindly get agrees.
He does have a point if you think about it. How many big puzzle games have we seen this gen not counting XBLA/PSS? How many offbeat games like PaRappa The Rapper? Shooters are fine, but not if everything is a shooter.
KILL! KILL! KILL!
Murder Murder Murder
redruM redruM redruM (Yeah, I just referenced The Shining.) On topic: Hey, you kill things in Pokemon! Oh, wait...nevermind...things "faint" and "black out" in Pokemon. :/
He must've missed Journey then. But yeah, aside from that game I can't think of anything else, strangely. The really good games however have killing in them as something you really can't get around, it's just something you sadly have to do sometimes. Like Red Dead. John didn't want to kill people, he just wanted to be on his farm. And he avoided killing when he could. Or I guess I did. And Metal Gear, you can beat them all without killing anyone.
He's right guys, our enemies and opponents should faint when they get beat up or shot at. Their teammates are required to bring them to the nearest hospital for them to be revived. No respawn.
So your saying that getting blown up by a grande and re-spawning is better -_- or Having someone empty and entire clip on you only to hide for cover and recover is better. Would like to see some of you FPS/TPS experts go to war and apply your gaming logics in a real warzone.
I think you missed the point of my post. If you ever play any pokemon games, you'll know that no matter how powerful the attacks are and overwhelming one pokemon taking out another is, the worst that can happen is fainting. If the games are shooter, I don't see why they need to take the violence aspect out and replace it with PG consequences like Pokemon.
I'd prefer to get shot in the head than be forever enslaved in a small ball by some punk ass to do his/her wet work.
lol i see what you did there ironically killing is more human than enslaving
Kinda hard to take a guy who has been making the exact same game for the past decade.
And animal cruelty isn't? Forcing, what are basically over powered animals, to fight eachother and winning trainer gets money in the end is more morally right? If you don't believe me, go win a pokemon battle in a game and your rewarded with $$$...Tsk Tsk and you call Nintendo family friendly...Pokemon makes what Michael Vick did nothing...lol jk. Pokemon is a awesome (atleast everything upto gold/silver...I prefer those out of all the pokemon games).
That's actually true and it's something that's baffled me for many years. Pokemon is basically an anime about cartoon cruelty.
I wonder if there are any animal-rights groups in the Pokemon world? The entire planet seems perfectly ok with sending prepubescent children out into the world to fight animals. Are there Pokemon who die? Are there kids who die? I need to know these things! lol
That was basically the point behind whatever Team Rocket was called in Black and White. They were basically PETA. And yes, Pokemon die. Remember the Pokemon cemetary from the first generation? There is even a theory that you killed your rival's Raticate, I believe it was, in those games.
same old complaint :/ go look somewhere else I guess.
