It's been so long since a Diablo product came out, and especially a comic book. Last one was Diablo: Tales of Sanctuary (2001) by Dark Horse.

Fans really need more Diablo mini-series. The lore is ripe to expand in this format. So many ground to cover.

StarCraft II took nigh 8 years. They started development a month after Warcraft III: Frozen Throne shipped (July 2003). By that coin, Diablo III development cycle has the same treatment as the other games.

They are nigh done however. Fret not. Diablo III beta will start in the next couple of weeks or less. Morhaime said it would start on Q3 2011.

The next Activision Blizzard Q2 2011 Financial conference call is on August 3, so if beta hasnt started by then, he will definitely announce the official beta date.

Once beta starts, by experience, the game ships within the next 4-6 months.
