Just when you thought that PC gamging is doomed, here's a blog article to prove you wrong.
Personally, as lame as I think PC gaming is, it's really not going anywhere anytime soon.
PC gaming lame? You do relize without all those video cards console games would never happen right? You do relize Gears, Assassins, Unreal Tournament all look better and run better on PC right? You do relize you can use whatever controller, joystick, mouse, etc you like as well? Or are you one of those idiots who thinks PC's costs 1000's of dollars? Crysis hands down looks better than any console game out. Even run at 1024 x 768 the textures look better than Halo 3, Gears, any of those games. Not to mention can be played on a LCDTV or Plasma but with LCDTV's they have such a huge pixel pitch whats the point. Everything looks unclear... But then again console people wouldnt even know about pixel pitch would they...
PC gaming is what pushes the technology forward. You like how your Call of Duty 4 looks? Say thank you to PC gamers who help fund advances in technology by purchasing the latest and greatest video cards. Consoles try to mimic PC gaming, not the other way around. And there is a reason for that - PC gaming pwns!!
This old-ass argument again. PC Gaming is not doomed, never was...never will be. This article is straight up flame-bait.
Pc gaming is never even close to being doomed... Its a standard for FPSs, with mods, K/M, better server finding, etc Its the only system where RTS are truly playable, imagine playng supreme commander or SC2 on a console... shivers* Not to mention adventure games, like myst or monkey island, MMOs like WOW, RPGs like diablo and hellgate Its lacking in sports, platformers and simulation games, but thats why you get and enjoy both pc and consoles!
Playing an RTS on a console WITHOUT a KB+M makes me want to crawl into whole somewhere.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahaha okay.....
who have money as no option, because everything they get is of the highest standards and dlc is expected and is usually free, not to mention mods make the games worth playing long after the game is over. Half Life mods alone account for a large amount of gaming, any console owner who does not concede pc is better is a moron. The pc gamers have always had high def because their monitors have resolutions already that high and didnt have to wait for hdtv catching up.
Don't forget PC versions are 10bux less than their console counterpart, usually come with editors, support free fan-mods, etc, etc, etc. Aside from homogenizing the experience on consoles and guaranteeing a title will perform to a certain spec on everyones hardware I see no reason console games should be $10 more, usually with less content.
PC gaming is far away from Dying it has actually gained more than the consoles recently over the past few years. PC gaming is always one step above consoles. PC's now support DirectX10, and soon 10.1 while consoles are stuck with DirectX 9 & Open GL 1 or 2? PC's always have speed and power advantage over consoles as well as better accuracy and even customizability. Nearly all PC games support mods and map editors. Very few console games have this feature and usually they are toned down some. PC gaming may be little more expensive, but it always has the advantage over anything else. At least for this generation. Hopefully the next batch of consoles won't be computers. Then we might can say something relating to PC gaming dying, but would it be dying really or would it be transformed into something completely new with the death of consoles and birth of computers with a set life so you know when and what to buy and the platform would be more of a single platform like what some console developers want.
lol. yeah and lohan aint a drugfiend..........NEXT
I'm a PC gamer and not a console gamer, but I must say that this article and the one that preceded (link in the article) are not only riddled with mistakes but also make a pretty bad case both pro and against consoles. Thats sad. On the other hand the writter of the article is correct in general: PC gaming is alive and well for the foreseable future. And thats a good thing, because I have no wish to be forced to play the retarded games that most devs put out on consoles to appeal to uncritic juveniles and make quick money through artificial hype.
pc's and consoles are more even now. except for the upgrade part...AND THATS A BIG PART. consoles have more "million-selling" creative games...pc has shooters and rts. i like em both.
"Million-selling" creative games are two concepts I find hard to get together. So far, the only REALLY great games I've found on a console so far are Shadow of the Colossus (simply brilliant), Okami and...I guess nothing else. And none of them where million-sellers. Sure, there was some other nice stuff. But even such games as Resident Evil 4 are hardly that great. I mean, I find it hard to swallow that when you shoot a bird in that game you can pick up ammo (sigh). Or that guys pop up for no reason to sell you weapons in the middle of a zombie town... And I'm at pains to undestand from where does Solid Snake pulls out the ton of stuff he carries with him in the MGS games (like the metal barrel from the MSG4). From his a$$$, I suppose. A dev doing that kind of stuff in a game developed primarily for PC would have been lynched the next day. Unfortunately, these are the "million-sellers" on consoles. As for RPGs the only one so far that I really like is Mass Effect (which looks brilliant). Japanese stuff doesn't cut it for me either. But you are right, its a matter of taste. But what I wanted to say is that the reason why consoles sell so much more games is simply because the games are much popular in appeal. But so are Sandra Bulock's movies comparing to stuff like Apocalypse Now. And please give me Apocalypse Now everyday over those "million-selling" movies. Add to that that consoles are cheaper and easier to manage and you have the answer why console games are so much more popular than PC only games.
PC gaming has always been the way to go! The kids can have their silly gamepads for FPS's and their turtle like responsiveness :P
... keep posting really OLD crap from Gamers World Bangladesh? This is from August. A few weeks back there was another old article from the same blog that said PCgaming was dying. http://www.gamersworldbd.co... http://www.n4g.com/NewsCom-... Posted in june on the blog, middle of oct on N4G. Delete this. Old, irrelevant, flamebait, boring, lame.
hahahahah i mnever knew they had websites in bangdesh ;p for console games
The more comments I read from PC gamers the more I realize that I was wrong and PC gamers are the biggest arrogant cvnts in all of gaming.. PC nerds FTL!
try telling all those WoW guys that have played the game since it was released, who spend 12-16 hours a day farming, raiding, getting honor. getting gear that within a year they have to start all over again because the newest ex-pack just hit the shelves. they will choke that guy out with their wireless mouse....i think...
I like PC games and Console games. However, my local Gamestop is down to 2 small shelves of PC games while the console games have all the wall space. If I drive to 30 miles to a Best Buy store, they have 5 times as many PC games as Gamestop. I don't know if Gamestop is giving up on them or not. I wouldn't be surprised if PC games of the future are simply purchased online only either by downloading or having it shipped by mail.
But it's not in its heyday either
PC gaming will live on as long as people use PCs. Even if you look outside of the hardcore gaming scene it is just very convenient for someone to have a few games around. So many people use PCs on a daily basis but aren't into games enough to warrant getting a dedicated console. Long term PC gaming will face increasing challenges: - Could suffer if games continue to require increasingly good hardware, but people stop upgrading because they're happy with the OS. - The rise in Ubuntu and Leopard is going to cause developers even more problems as time goes on. If it gets to the stage where Windows doesn't have such a big share then they will have to develop 3 versions. Like it or not PC gaming sales aren't as high as that of consoles, but the upside is the development costs are much lower, which is why you see many small outfits releasing games on the format.
