According to EA DICE's Daniel Matros, Battlefield 3 will feature in-game ads on multiplayer maps.
Not cool :/
They're OK if done right. Like say finding a pepsi/coke/whatever bottle on the ground or a vending machine in a city area. Or a billboard with an AD as you're running through the city.
Sure, that'd be OK It'd also be OK if it kept DLC maps free.
So long as they don't "mysteriously" double loading times so that we can stare at a giant banner for twice as long like what happened with WipEout HD.
No, it's not goddamn ok! Why are there people that always bend over and take it? Game is published by EA, remember, it's that gigantic gaming company that makes billions. I'm sure they don't need ads to help them fund BF3.
to a certain point it builds the realism, hope they won't cross the line hope we can destroy ads, can't remember the tittle but there was a game lately with ads and you could destroy a lot of stuff but ads, and that was stupid
agree if done right i'd be ok but i still dont want a craving for coke or McDonalds while i play
for some odd reason i think ill go have a smoke now.
Burnout paradise has them and I dont think they are a problem. As long as it does not force you to see a ad when you start the game like what happens when you sign into XBL.
Thats cos you havent crashed to one of the billboards trucks, they sux, most annoying thing i have seen in a game.
This is nothing new. BF 2142 had in game ads. http://media.nowpublic.net/...
So that means that we get free dlc then or at least much cheaper as there generating more money...
Might happen ;)
not in this generation :P
What you mean like how Bad Company 2 charged you for new maps? Oh wait...
@ Urmomlol You make a good point. While people complain constantly about the cost of Call of Duty map packs, you don't see complaints about how EA and DICE monetized BFBC2's multiplayer. Hypocrites.
I don't think you guys Understood urmomlol's post. He is saying how ea always gave free maps while only releasing the best dlc called the vietnam map pack which was the only dlc they released for the game. And no ea doesnt make billions. They had been on the negative side last year, but they are starting to comeback with a gem called the frostbite 2 engine. BF3, NFS the run, and the to be mirrors edge 2 :D that's why I like ea I like their games ;)
Lol I wish
so kinda like burnout paradise? hopefully this means a couple of free dlc packs...
They should put it during loading screens so I have something to stare at than the map loading screen. I wouldn't mind that but they said "in-game." Hope it is like Burnout Paradise and not in your face.
Nothing wrong with that imo. I'm guessing it will be like the alpha except all the billboards that show Battlefield 3 will show some type of add.
Ya that would be awesome although what i really do not like are all those allowed server-ads that appear in Bad Company 2
didn't the first BF Bad Company have this? I think i remember there being billboards with ads in that game.
Yea but those ads weren't related to the real-life companies but in fact, as I remember, those were created by the imagination of DICE developers.
It's a pretty cool idea, Mortal kombat 9 has ads. Although some are rather distracting... ;)
2142 did also iirc. no big deal.
soo what is they do in game adds. it makes more money for them then good thats where they dnt complain for used games, even though they will still complain no matter what
It will be pop ups in the middle of the screen that you would have to press x to close.
This is cool makes it more realistic. Something I wish GTA would do. I would love to drive by a mc donalds or if it's dark im driving and I see a big yellow price tag that says Best Buy.
if this was COD you guys would be raging right now
so many games do it anyway. Racing games: Billboards and sign posts at side of track Sports game: All round side of the pitch The only reason violent games dont have it is because some companys dont want to be seen surporting violence.
My point still stands People here seem to be fine with it since it's EA.but the instance we see ads in COD people would rage and complain all over the place.
That's not true. Otherwise Activision is selling their little DLCs for a way too high price, when on the other side the BF DLCs are for free, so our made up "raging" would be still ok.
