The expansive design of the maps gives you plenty of options in the width to plan and execute tactical manoeuvres, flanking your opponents with the hope of catching them by surprise. This really is the only impressive staging Call of Juarez: The Cartel offers, as much of the gameplay is fairly systematic: FPS design 101 and rarely attempting anything more. Unlockable items and corruption mechanics are all well and good, but when the gunplay is so basic it really doesn’t add too much to the experience.
