Goldeneye 007: Reloaded: Activision gets it right – finally

"Well smack me in the head with a Walther PPK so I’m shaken, not stirred, and call me Moneypenny! After Activision took over the James Bond gaming licence good ‘ol pixellated 007 was going a bit like his film namesake when actor Roger Moore took over…off target.

But now Bond is back. So is the best Bond game ever, Goldeneye 007, again. Yes it’s a reload of a reload of a classic, this time for the 360 and PS3, and this time with 4 player split-screen offline multiplayer as well as the now obligatory online multiplayer.

Finally, Activision gets it right. Praise Eurocom!"

The story is too old to be commented.

I love what they are doing to the multiplayer! I'd still like to see a new game rather than a remake of a remake though, with new exotic locations and story.

Hopefully they are at least on the right track now.

EYEamNUMBER12525d ago

again why do people seem to think this is a remake of goldeneye? i see so many people thinking and talking like its an actual remake of the original but its not

have none of you guys played this game? or seen it?

BadCircuit2525d ago

Could be the title and the fact that the locations are pretty much the same?

EYEamNUMBER12525d ago (Edited 2525d ago )

the locations are pretty much the same?
besides the dam level everything else looks and is entirely new/different

gaminoz2525d ago

In any case I'm glad it's coming for 360/PS3!

Spenok2524d ago

Yeah BadCircuit,

Unfortunatly Eye is correct. The only lvl that is the same is the Dam. Everything after is etirely new. It sucks, but there isnt much we can do. :/

When I saw this, I JUMPED hoping that Rare's XBLA version of the N64 Goldeneye had finally seen the light of day...

Then I was a little disappointed.

El_Colombiano2525d ago

Never going to happen man...

gaminoz2525d ago

Yup. Never. But this should be good anyway. Too bad they couldn't throw that version in as an 'extra', hey.

BadCircuit2525d ago (Edited 2525d ago )

This game should always have been made on 360 and PS3 over Wii.

They are right to say they wanted to get a new engine and do it up nice for the HD consoles though, so fair enough.

Yay for the extra modes and local multi!

tunaks12525d ago (Edited 2525d ago )

"Goldeneye 007: Reloaded: Activision gets it right – finally"

um its a port of a game that existed.

gaminoz2525d ago

Not exactly a port as EYEamNUMBER1 points out above, and also if you read the article you'll see that it's about the multi, new modes, and the fact that it is on 360/PS3 now instead of just Wii.

tunaks12525d ago (Edited 2525d ago )

if you've played the wii version, just add some bump mapping, better lighting and some more geo on the models and you've got GE:RE.

The only part I cared about for GE:Wii was the single-player(one of the best this gen!) and the local multi- which will probably be the same.

Nothing wrong with that the single player was great and so is the local play, BUT the only thing that will prob be drastically different is online play- and lets be realistic it wont be able to compete with BF3 or MW3...

gaminoz2525d ago

Well there look to be some more modes to do, a new game engine, as well as paintball and big head cheats.

It's not a port of the N64 title is what I think we meant. It is a reboot or redo though, so we may just be splitting hairs :)

Technical World2525d ago

Is it just me or am I the only one that realises that the Wii version has local splitscreen that I play almost every day?

BadCircuit2525d ago (Edited 2525d ago )

I think the article is saying that it should have been in previous Activision Bond games and that it should be in all Bond games, not just for the supposed casuals of Wii.
