Why is duke nukem #1. It was an fun game and the multiplayer is really fun. Im really starting to think people are just hating on that game for no reason.

i dont think people are just hating on it for no reason. i mean the game is definitely fun. i enjoyed it a lot, but when you take into consideration the amount of time it took to release its a bit of a let down. duke nukem forever could have been something much greater so a lot of the complaints are some what reasonable.

Duke is a good game, but with lots of old stuff.. but enjoyable game... I think that many haters are from this gen gamers or gamers who would like to much innovation in games and don't understand that it's an old game which changed 4 engines, but basics stayed the same..

i think its the new stuff that really ruins the game, new fps games are mostly trash now thanks to the xbox 360 audience and what they buy. you can tell the game was a PC exclusive then got shat on to be a 360 game. fucking qte gameplay in a duke nukem game, gtfo!

I just don't want to see gamers get hurt as they listen to dopey sheeple 'baa' that reviewers "can't handle" DNF because of COD and that their main argument is poor graphics. The reviews of DNF were mostly very correct and well written, unwarranted of all of the idiotic, unreasonable attacks.

DNF is a genuinely bad game. I'm just trying to counter the same BS that gets posted in every DNF article. No gamer deserves to be tricked into not "listening to the reviews!! Go spend $60 and try it for yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I liked duke nukem also. It wasnt great but it was good. The PC version is easily superior graphics wise and the multiplayer isnt a bad change from the normal 1st person shooters out there. Socom should be 1st on that list. I was more dissapointed with that game.

have you tried socom since the patches ? while its still not the socom of old it has improved a lot. am still waiting for change shoulder and lean peak as well as old maps and game modes. i just dont understand the hate for this game while its not the same as older socoms it is still a good competitive game . i have faith in zipper that they will bring the old game styles back and support it as they do with mag.

socom 4 and DN will do well overtimes
sales wise and the more the people who get to play bpth will see both games are actually really enjoyable

socom4 has a really fun and addictive online co-op with 8-10hrs of single player story.(problem is socom fans wanted a copy and paste of socom 2 and than they would complain about this game being the same so no way to please everyone

People expected DN to be this great looking well polished game but you have to understand Gearbox said they just wanted to finsih this so they can move on to making DN games every 2-3 years with fresh ideas so this DN game is the old vicions for people who started DNF

And why do you say that? It supports all previous DS games, plays 3D games (and does so quite well) and has an analog stick (which makes playing regular DS games so much better)! I think if there was a price drop, it would sell much better.

Regardless, 3D technology just doesn't sell as well....look at 3D televisions. There are quite a few out there, but it isn't mainstream. Just like the DS, if someone already has a non-3D version, does it make financial sense to get rid of a fairly new product (DS or TV) and get a new 3D enabled device. This is the sole reason 3D TVs and the 3DS don't sell as well.

Well I said it before and I'll say it again: As it is now, I don't see 3D making too big of an impact on gaming(because it doesn't function well) but I can see it as a precursor to something really good in the future

Duke Nukem Forever is just plain BAD! There are reviews out there that always say "there are other games that do it better" or "this is just another game from a genre that is already filled with other games of the same type". Yet people are still supporting Duke Nukem. I played it (as a rental thank goodness). Just plain and simple...the developers needed to release some thing in order for them to have any chance on making a profit on the game. And in doing so they released a game in an unfinished state. Broken, bug ridden MP, SP that is not enjoyable and a game that lacks any story. I have to admit the first level was interesting, but after that it went down hill quickly. I wouldn't say it is #1 on a flop list, but it is bad.

Brink should have taken the place of Duke Nukem Forever. At least DNF is a very fun game. I wasn't expecting state of the art graphics, I was expecting fun gameplay and Duke delivers on that aspect. Brink on the other hand is a huge waste of money for all the hype it received before release.

It's probably going too far to call KZ3 a flop, and it's definitely not "one of the worst games of 2011," but it was the most disappointing game of this gen for me.

KZ3 was sort of okay, but it was a huge letdown from KZ2, which was stellar.

Socom 4 flopped because of the combination of the PSN outage and the large number of April releases. Didn't stop me from buying it though. However, I've seen worse games sell better.

Agreed... the outage happened the week of release, and it was released the same day as Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat. I hate to use the word flop alongside a game like SOCOM 4, because the game was NOT a flop... the sales were weak, but the game itself is good. I'll take good gameplay over sales any day.

It all depends on how your categorizing it as a flop. Because if the earning reports are correct, Duke Nukem made very decent sales, and it totally dosn't deserve the 'unplayable' status it has been getting. There are much worse games, much more generic games and there are way more broken games than this one. I played through the entire game and didn't hit a single bug or snag, and if it was that terrible I wouldn't have bothered to finish it, plain and simple.

I really am starting to think it's a case of people being so hyped for the release, expecting so much, and feeling let down that a game that, let's face it, went through development hell, wasn't all they wanted it to be, wasn't as awesome as they wanted. So everyone started acting like spoiled brats and threw their toys out of the pram. Then being the Internet, others jumped on board and BAM, hating on Duke was the new in thing.

I for one can't wait to see what Gearbox does with the franchise, especially when the next game doesn't have to go through the years of crap that Duke Forever did. The next one should be a more polished job that's for sure.

Socom 4 was a flop along with Fable 3, Killzone 3, Haze, Crackdown 3, Alan Wake, and others exclusives too large to make a list. The game is barley topping the 500k mark and has average reviews across the web. If you don't see that then something is wrong in the head.

Socom 4 on Gamespot and G4 got the same exact reviews as Infamous 2 because those two sites thoroughly played Socom 4.

The other websites that gave the game average reviews based it off playing a couple hours of single player and never looked at multiplayer or co-op because PSN was down a day after Socom 4 released. No game suffered more than Socom 4. I feel really bad for Zipper interactive.

I have 12 days played on multiplayer, so something must be right.

The problem with SOCOM 4 is that it isn't a SOCOM game. I spent plenty of time with the multiplayer (which should be ashamed to call itself SOCOM multiplayer), and it's just not good.

When SOCOM clans are moving back to Confrontation, that is saying something.

How can you be sure that Gamespot and G4TV were the only ones who played the game thoroughly? There are still other gaming sites giving it average scores.

And explain the user reviews from sites like Amazon, Metacrtic, Game Stop, Best Buy, and many other vendors with average to bad reviews. These are the general opinions of everyday people and the majority says that socom 4 is just a typical shooter. Fans of the series says they strayed too much from the original formula.

I have to admit that I totally agree with him on Duke. I love Duke just like everyone else, and the game surely has a nostalgic value. I was looking forward to get my hands on Duke after all those years until, well, I played the bloody demo. The demo was so bad that I don't even want to buy the game anymore. I don't know if the actual game is any better but one thing they can learn from this is that sometimes all it takes to destroy the countless years of admiration is a badly presented and awfully chosen demo.

Gamers have gotten to quick to call something a flop. I think its because no one has defined what a flop is. I consider a flop something that doesnt makes less money than it took to create it. Thats a true flop. Nothing else matters time is factored in with money so even if something took 10 years to make if it true development costs meaning including labor and promotion. Using this method of thinking most games created arent flops.

Any game that hits 1 million sales isnt a flop. They called Alan Wake a flop now it sold around 1 million copies. Duke Nukem is a game that should remind us of how much fun games used to be. Before we started counting pixels to determined if something true HD or upscaled. It has sold well so far when you look at both PS3 and 360 numbers it over 500,000. Remember that game has small following it was never a super selling franchise. I doubt any single game did over 2 mil so I say its doing great right now.

DNF might be a flop critically (justifiably so),but it's pretty successful commercially,especially since it felt like Gearbox didn't invest any money into the garbage of a game.Also,Shadow Of The Damned may have got average reviews,but it is a bonafide flop commercially.
