Top 10 Video Games that Should Have Been Delayed

From the PlanetXbox360.com feature article:

"This generation of video games has seen many titles come and pass that needed extra time in development. Many factors have caused titles being rushed onto store shelves, but none of them are valid enough when looking back and seeing the disappointing results for many titles that often lead to unemployment for several developers." (James Bond 007: Blood Stone, PC, PS3, Splatterhouse, StarWars Force Unleashed II, Too Human, Xbox 360)

Must disagree on Too Human, spent so much time with that game; I'm not sure if that means it was good or not =P

Where is Gran Turismo 5? And that's not sarcasm!

As a serious fan of the series, I must agree with you. It saddens me greatly to say it, but there is so very much wrong with a game, that took entirely to long to make.

I bought it new, and maybe finished 35% of the a-spec side. It kills me to say it but Forza 3 was a much better game. and past the "premium car models" it had better graphics in every respect.

I think if GT5 had anymore delays more people would have lost interest in it. The game had too many delays to begin with.

Even with all those delays, the creator guy forgot his name the Polophony Digital Director said he wasn't fully satisfied with the game being released at the time.

TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled didn't really need to be delay but they should of put more thought in before they put out the game.
-Like the order the bosses is in

Brink should of been delayed it needed some several fixes.

Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale also should of been delayed or never made, no offense d&d fans

I wouldn't mind a Too Human sequel that rights all the original game's mistakes. I also think Crackdown 1 deserves a proper sequel so that we can forget that expansion pack that is Crackdown 2

final fantasy

it's overdelayed.

I actually liked Too Human, yea the death scene took too long, but overall I enjoyed it. Also, I really liked Crackdown 2. I think the multiplayer especially was far ahead of the original.

How many games now day's release games that could be considered a 1.5 version? yet it seems that people like to pick on this one in particular.

shh its n4g kz3 was awsome just like mw and uc3 beta. For me kz2>kz3 and uc3 beta but i like a challange not pushing a button and have infinite ammo/rpg spam/invisable etc
thugbob  +   1475d ago
Yep KZ3 was rushed. The developers said themselves. KZ2 > KZ3 fact. I know it, you know it, hell Guerrilla Games knows it.

The UC3 beta was fine.

Beat me to it by a whole hour.

Shadowrun was excellent. Everyone talks **** about it, but it was so good. Excellent balance. Creative and fun abilities. (Gliders and teleportation are awesome!) And kills are very rewarding.

Came to the comments to add Brink to the list, to find that many agree, agreed, guys.
acemonkey  +   1475d ago

I know they had Alpha Protocol on the list, but I'm more convinced the game could have been AMAZING with some polish

Epic Mickey: Some tweaking to the game's structure (ability to backtrack, preferably without the pointless 2d levels would be nice) and redesigning some of the levels could have made it truly epic instead of just ehhhhhh.... not too bad.

Nier: They could have delayed it, and actually fixed the problems and padded out the plot a bit more evenly. Or they could have delayed it, added a guy named Cid and a Chocobo, and called it Final Fantasy. THEN people would have played it.

How bought Fable 3?

Fallout 3 and fallout new vegas...
HUGE amount of technical issues on both.

Dont get me wrong, they're awesome, but they would be that much better if they didnt freeze and have other weird glitches.

FO:NY just had this huge patch, but it's still freezing on me :p

I always avoid games by Bethesda and Obsidian due to this (at least until the complete editions), they really need some better coders there.

What really p*sses me off though, is the games get a free pass in reviews and never marked down for the horrendous amount of glitches they have.

FO:NY?! There's a New York version?
lol, couldn't help it...
ECM0NEY  +   1474d ago
Thats just the engine. No amount of time would have helped
Dark_Overlord  +   1475d ago
Splatterhouse was a good game IMO, if they could just fix the stupid glitches it would easily be an 8/10 for me. The loading times weren't a problem, they were between levels (of which there were 14) and only lasted about 10 secs. Frame rate drops were really rare for me, although screen tearing did happen a lot more than should have.
Lazy_Sunday  +   1475d ago
Where was Duke Nukem on this list? It wasn't even ready for release after 14 years in development.

Gears 2, DC Universe Online, KZ3

Every MMO ever and still to come...
