CVG - Zelda: Skyward Sword - Dethroning Ocarina as best in the series?

CVG - Twenty-fifth birthdays are a time for taking stock. At 20 you reach a crossroads. By 30 you should be well on your way. At 25 there's still time for an awkward U-turn. Sure, other lives will honk angrily as you block the road, but it's worth it in the end. At E3, the honks come from the Skyward Sword booth.

OofTime is not my favorite Zelda game. It's 3rd for me:
1. Link to the Past
2. Wind Waker
3. Ocarina of Time

So I find this debatable, but I do think the game is looking to have great potential.

After reading all the great previews everyone has been writing about it, I actually wouldn't be surprised if it is better than Ocarina of Time.
But, like ZoidsRaven said, we'll see.

Probably not. Actually people remember OoT as being so good primarily because of its revolutionary controls for a 3D environment. It was probably the first 3D action-adventure game to get the controls right on a console. Similar situation with Super Mario 64.

If you could somehow take away OoT's honor of being the first to do all those innovative things, and therefore also take away the sentimentality and nostalgia that many fans exhibit, and then compare OoT against Majora's Mask, I think more people would favor Majora's Mask.

Anyway, we're past those revelations now, so unless Nintendo has something that will completely floor everyone and make us think "why haven't games been doing this for years??!" like OoT did, most people probably won't think Skyward Sword is better.

I don't like when someone places it up against "the holy grail of games to most". People don't seem to consider that OoT has aged so well BECAUSE games, including later Legend of Zelda releases, are using that same formula it created.
Either Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask are considered the best by most for creating experiences that created new foundations.

Unless Skyward Sword actually creates a fairly new foundation for adventure/ super-lite RPG's, I don't see it being heralded as the greatest in the series. I'm sure it will still be amazing though.
