@ units But isn't this the same site that you used to post the Xbox360 and Wii hardware figures?

Edit: My bad, didn't know the counted free giveways. I thought they only counted consoles sold.

Well that makes a lot more sense. 500,000 units out of nowhere like that was kind of baffling lol. Microsoft handing out consoles to pad the numbers?

This is the same as Wii Sports numbers tbh. as fun as Wii Sports could be, no way would it have sold nearly 80,000,000 without being given away.

The free Xbox 360 with a 699.99 Windows computer....NO SHIT! People buy more computers than they do with TVs, computers break more often than TVs.

Silly gameAr2625d ago

It was genius whatever they did.

The article stated that "the promotion certainly had at least a small impact"... I would say more small then anything. But would this be any different then the Sony promotions giving away free PS3s with their TVs?

Both Sony and MS do promotional shuffling to get their systems out there and both count all numbers of units released in these deals.

Nothing new...

Wow, so now Microsoft is giving away free consoles? I knew those numbers didn't magically appear for no reason.

Umm.. Sony does the same thing.

NPD doesn't count promotions. They don't even count all retailers. Stop buying into bullshit!
