Xbox 360 to Lead June Hardware Sales - Pachter

Xbox 360 is likely to be the top selling console in the U.S. June NPD sales report releasing this Thursday, according to Wedbush Securities. Analyst Michael Pachter has forecast 355,000 units sold (down 21%), compared to 325,000 Wii units (down 23%), 290,000 DS units (down 43%), 240,000 PS3 units (down 21%) and 165,000 3DS units.

You do realize that when Sony released their 50 million numbers, it was as of March 29, 2011 right? You won't read it anyway, but here you have the numbers straight from Sony and MS.

Sony announced 50 million shipped end of march, MS announced 55 million shipped one month later. So a 5 million lead is an educated guess. Read it here:

It is now the middle of July. Last year the PS3 out sold the 360 by 2.1m. 360 sold 12.1 the PS3 sold 14.2m in 2010. M$ only talks about what the 360 does in NA. If they were outselling Sony worldwide you would see Aron greeberg, articles everywhere about how they are beating Sony worldwide.

When is the last time you seen or heard from Aron Greenberg.

their year and a half lead over sony is arguably the reason why the 360 is where it is today (also, being dirt cheap is a nice plus too)

Lets hope not, I am between SONY and XBOX, I think sony has a better pedigree hardware and exclusive, however I question their "get it" mentality with the online market.

MS Being a software company is much more robust in that area of thinking than SONY

SONY is much more robust in internal dev teams and hardware

I was a PS1 fan, my all time fav system and I was an original Xbox fan

So next gen will break the tie for me, so Im curious about their strategies.

Even if SONY did..would that mean the end of SONY? I dont think so. This whole console war is a fanboy fantasy. Both SONY and Microsoft are in it for PROFIT.

And as long as SONY can make enough to keep making the great games that I love, i dont care that 360 sells more.

So now we are using the sales of 1 week with a difference between the PS3 and 360 being only 32k determine that the PS3 is outselling the 360?

That's sad really.

For the last 5 years, all I have read, month in and month out....X year is the year of the PS3 and the PS3 is going to pass the 360 in sales. And 5 years later...360 is still in the lead and am still hearing that the PS3 is going to pass the 360.

I can't wait for the next gen to start so that at least this delusional perspective can be placed on new consoles in a new gen and we can finally get over this repetitive argument over the PS3 and 360.

Figures don't lie.The gap from year one is being eroded at a rate of about 1.6-1.8 million a year in favour of ps3.The 360 IS the slowest selling console this gen.The year advantage was 16 months in EU too.

When the PS3 launched, the 360 was 5 million units ahead. According to the most recent financial reports, the 360 is currently 3.6 million units ahead. So in close to 5 years the gap has only closed 1.4 million units. Over the years, the gap had widened and shrunken and widened and shrunken, but the PS3 has never passed the 360 and the smallest the gap has ever been was around 2.9 million. The last financial quarter, the gap once again increased by 0.6 million.

It was a 9 million lead originally yodacracker. Not a 5 million lead. The gap constantly gets shrunken since then. Stop trying to twist it.
