From EVE Online to Dust 514, a Cross Platform Universe Emerges

CCP Games has made a name for themselves in the fiercely competitive MMO market with the success of their persistent futuristic space simulator, EVE Online. However, as announced at E3 last month, CCP Games has decided to expand their model to include a persistent MMO first person shooter, called Dust 514, which will take place in the same universe as EVE Online. I like the fact that Sony is connecting the two platforms - PC and the PS3 to fight together finally realizing that the PC gamers are still here and alive!

Ummm, looks to me like both platforms have an exclusive here... PC has EVE Online, PS3 has Dust 514....

I don't believe CCP has definitively said that Dust 514 will ALWAYS be a PS3 exclusive. Wouldn't surprise me if it does come to PC in the future.

I don't think they are forgetting the PC platform at all - this is a fantastic technical project. Not only is this project cross platform, but also links two totally different games together. I can cut CCP some slack here - they are not a massive team, and they are trying something that has never been done before.

Also, I think it's safe to say that an FPS is going to sell better on the PS3 than the PC. Take Battlefield 3 for instance. Obviously massively superior on the PC - yet I am positive it will sell the least on PC. Makes sense for CCP to launch an FPS on PS3 rather than PC.
